I was too lazy to make a table so I just looked at the solution. Unsurprisingly, it was exactly what I thought.

I'm afraid I tried really hard to work it out but I couldn't get it.

I'm afraid I tried really hard to work it out but I couldn't get it. The solution is just to make a table with, say, month as the rows and numbers as columns. After that you can use known details to remove rows/columns (in our case, mostly rows) to see what is left.

I watched the solution video on the BBC and it made perfect sense to me, but I'm annoyed I couldn't work it out for myself. I wish I was better at this type of logic puzzle.

It's frustrating, isn't it? UK schools just don't teach that kind of logical process. We're taught how to apply formula A to problem B, using a tool as told to by a teacher rather than actually thinking about the question.
