Yesterday I watched Interstate 60 on TV. The movie was awesome, the translation... not so much.
The strongest part of the movie is its play on cognitive biases. Red spades, black hearts. It always amuses us from the angle we're not used to, pranks us from nowhere.
The story itself is a journey. The protagonist starts with uncertainties and goes through those one by one.
The most interesting I've found there was the scene with Benton and Euphoria, where he is forced to rethink about choice:
The strong scene. Especially strong part is on 8:05, when seconds after police officer's speech about people gladly giving up their freedom and get rid of responsibilities, the main heroine of the episode, when faced with life-changing decision, asks the protagonist: "What should I do? You're smart, tell me what to do".
Of course, character-wise there would be Mr. Cody and his rather explosive personality. Says what he means, means what he says. The world would use much more of people like him.

I think I'll want to turn this into a thread about movie recommendations in general. If Lord Ba'al wouldn't mind moving this to Whatever board, I'll love him to. Next recommendation: Kin-dza-dza. A Soviet film about society itself. A very deep satire that doesn't only mock Cold War Soviet Union, but even the current society, and I'm not talking only about the Russian one. Thing's so deep I'm unsure how even to start talking about it. I'll just recommend to find a subtitled version - actor's play was spot on in this one. I've found it on Youtube uploaded by the copyright holder:

On my side, I refered that following film as source of inspiration for Godus, some time ago... I got here the link for the english version for everybody.

Looks like George Lucas starwars (4,5,6) got inspiration from those films. No, George Lucas was heavily influenced by Dune, another film(s) that I heavily recommend. Then again, both of the attempts to put it on the screen are so flawed I urge you to read the books - doubly so as those books are pretty much the best Sci-Fi even made that side of Pacific. Just don't read the prequels and "sequels" to the Dune - they claim that a Bene Gesserit has infected an Arrakis siridar with a disease and it worked. The same problem is with the 1984 film, where the same Vladimir Harkonnen (I repeat, the spice addict immune to any diseases except the spice addiction itself) has skin diseases.

I find a delightful symmetry with the characters role as heroine and the closeness in sound to an actual drug ( heroin), subliminally foreshadowing her own addiction. This looks like an interesting movie, i'll have to go check it out.
