I've used it a bit over the last couple of years, but never to fully validate how much I spent on it. I set up a workbench with the intention of making lots of things from wood and metal, but the fact is, I don't have time for this kind of work. I'm keeping the lathe, as that's something I can always go back to, but the little milling machine is wasting space. I also kind of feel sad the the best thing I did with it was to cut the 22cans logo. Bye bye milling machine. My Milling Machine on eBayA laser cutter is going to get so much more work. You can use them to "print out" wooden boxes for things like the raspberry pi, and make cutwork cards, or make the most awesome business cards, or use them to etch into materials, or personalise some chocolate, or fix the fact you have the wrong type of sim card, or ... And the great thing is, a laser cutter doesn't even have to be used out in the workshed.

I'm very sorry to hear that you only cut the 22Cans logo with it. It is beneath the miller. You should really think about doing something else with it before you sell it so it at least gets a good send off.

I'm very sorry to hear that you only cut the 22Cans logo with it. It is beneath the miller. You should really think about doing something else with it before you sell it so it at least gets a good send off. I made some other stuff with it, but nothing as fancy. Also, I just don't have time for that kind of work. It's a lot of setup to do jobs on those kinds of machines, especially if you're writing all the software yourself. That's another reason why I'm selling it: when I want to do CNC stuff in the future, I'm going to get a proper one so I don't have to spend so much time setting every job up. It was awful. I would spend two hours on ten minutes of cutting. That's a waste of time. With a bought one, I'd have maybe ten minutes setup before every job, maybe less. But it wasn't a waste overall, as I learned a lot about serial ports, python control of them, more about how hbridges work under load, and how to get the most out of some cheap stepper motors. I also wrote a reasonable PID controlller (for the Lego), and learned how to make an Arduino work with really high frequency encoder inputs. I shall call it a learning experience.
