Currently pushing for a new video, should have more news about this toward the end of the week/next week.

I'd be interested to know what's in the pipeline following the implementation of combat. I know combat was one of the mechanics Konrad wanted to have in place in order for multiplayer to work. Will this be next?

This is probably the best he can do, given what little he's allowed. Peter has his hands wrapped tightly around Godus' throat, and that keeps the CMs from being able to do their jobs. At least, that's how it was in the past; for all we know, they're back to running with a paradigm of smoke-&-mirrors like in the early bygone days. And, technically, it would be considered an "update" of some variance - even if it lacks any real meat of information - so... well, it is what it is. They'll take any win they can. And we could probably take bets on how it'll turn out; A) there will be a lot of patting themselves on the back for being so forthright with the marvelous-things-they-are-working-on-that-they-can't-tell-us-about-but-promise-promise-it'll-blow-our-freaking-minds; "oh, wait until you see what we have in store!!! We're so amazing! Sorry, no roadmap or details..." B) suggesting that a solid, totally real, tangible update to the code is impending-just-around-the-corner-isn't-that-exciting??? Sorry, not ETA... C) apologize for being aloof because 'reasons', and swearing they'll-try-harder-promise. You'll see!!! C) call it all a successful update - Cigars all around! D) Ignore any and all comments and questions regarding anything questionable or left unanswered. I sound damn pessimistic for an Original backer, and someone that's stuck around for 3 years, because.... well, that's what they've made me. I genuinely hope that I'm proven wrong.

You don't hide good news behind silence. Oh for the days when Furious Moo conversed with us directly on this forum.

The only way it was really "ammo" was in how it basically held up a magnifying glass to the writing already on the wall and evidenced by the state of the game, the development behind it (now on The Trail except for some folks really new to the industry), how the Kickstarter backers have been routinely and utterly let down, exposing how Bryan Henderson was an unwitting character in a video game version of THX-1138 where we're supposed to buy a cube-thingy and immediately throw it away as a natural spending habit, etc. But it was welcome as some of the first bits of honesty anyone really ever saw around this game. No weekly dev updates, but we get a video! Yay! I'll go buy a bottle of rum for the "I'm Sorry!" drinking game.

I think the guarded hidden nature of 22cans development and seemingly ignoring of player suggestions has been Godus's main failing.

You have a good point, there. That's the funny thing...folks also liked Fabs a lot for what he was willing to offer. I sense a trend... So when the producer tells the developers to stay away from interacting with the community for reason of focusing upon the game...I'm not sure what is going on there, especially when Richard was also doing well in discussing features he was working upon. Martin was also there for discussion of the bugs discovered in the development process. So why tell the developers to break from the community, unless this news/the situation there at 22cans is something they wouldn't want the public to know about - yet? We'll have to see what 22cans have to offer, and this thread is probably a good one to discuss what people are expecting from an update or another video so that 22cans may address it - including the treatment of their community. I know more than a few would like to know if the rest of 22cans are behind the Purge being enacted upon the Steam forums - especially those being deleted and banned with libelous reasons being cited for these actions.

Perhaps I'm giving the dev team too much credit, but I don't actually believe they've been working purely on combat all this time. My hope is that they've picked up fabs' project (whatever that may have been) and are completing it. My fear is that they've been sidetracked creating another 'world' to follow Weyworld in order to bolt on extra content for mobile users. Peter has previously lamented that mobile users consume content faster than they can produce it, and if they can get a boost of mobile players that'll give them some extra funding to fuel The Trail.

Another island wouldn't surprise me. It would be funny to see them try and spin that one. They have been promising mobile players something so somebody will be disappointed. I don't put much stock in Fabs secret project. As much as I like like Fabs I'm pretty sure that was over hyped and will be a dissappointment when revealed.

I don't necessarily think it will have been overhyped, but I am concerned that the present Godus development team won't have the skill to complete it, or if they do manage to get it out of the door they won't have done it justice.

That is what I am thinking as well. IF 22cans can pull off a "See, we've buckled down and have put together an actual PC title!" then that would be extremely amazing and welcome. Good job, actually. Getting along the way to seeing anything of this "God of Gods" thing will also be...well, what everyone has been expecting since Consumerism: The Box was "won" - but also similarly a good surprise. The manner of dangling and hinting and teasing while keeping the community in the dark...that's the part that gives me fears of imminently seeing something that will just result in collective head trauma from facepalming. They have also mentioned content updates in tweets to mobile users, so there is that added into the mix. I honestly don't know what to expect at this point; was confusion the desired effect?

They have also mentioned content updates in tweets to mobile users, so there is that added into the mix. Agreed. In the past they have advertised literally every single update as being exciting, groundbreaking, awesome, cool, packed with new features and fixes, etc., as well they might since they're trying to promote the game. But it goes to show that there's no point in getting overly optimistic about any given release, regardless of what is said.

I just cannot believe the amount of rope we are collectively giving these goons. Every time they make an announcement like this there is the usual flurry of chat then a sigh of realisation when we find out they've fucked us in the butt again. I'f I didn't live so far away I'd be tempted to show up and extract my refund by some very sinister means muahahahah

But it goes to show that there's no point in getting overly optimistic about any given release, regardless of what is said. That's been their method for ages; keep quiet and secret about features, begin over hyping the update, and drag us along like giddy kids chasing an ice cream truck... And then being utterly baffled (shocked even) when we react with disappointment at the wonderful new color for buildings that was unnecessary and never requested (by the majority). It's the equivalent of the ice cream guy promising an amazing new flavor, and then handing a half melted vanilla cone to us in a bowl... Oh but it has SPRINKLES!! I mean who wouldn't be dismayed by that? They just never embraced the open development methodology that was the pretence behind funding the project to begin with. It's a spectacular case study for anyone looking to learn how NOT to be a crowdfunded indie studio.
