It's a two-way conversation between mrdrpink and a (new?) user. It's both positive, in that he makes some good points about the game, and offers feedback/suggestions that sound all too familiar, and sad because his enthusiasm is peppered with the beginnings of what eventually led us all to the precipice we find ourselves standing on - and how the Dev's response (tho appropriately engaging and friendly) is just full of hopeful non-information and desperation trying to provide positive reinforcement that things are moving along just fine. I don't know whom I feel more sympathy for in this situation , the OP or the Dev. www.22cans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=31128vIf I read " The team is also working on the Development of Combat, we'll {be} sharing more new{s} about this within a future update." one more time, I feel I may vomit... So I can imagine having to post that on every reply must be demeaning and disheartening - because that's how I feel when I read it.

I'm not sure which is more saddening, Aynen's odd jubilation at what he clearly feels is some kind of winning affirmation, or that you'll probably quadruple the view count on that post by pasting the link here. It really is an odd choice to respond in that matter, since the Cans know for a fact they have very little good news to share, and will be relegated to responding with less and less meaningful info as the conversation evolves (no, really, lets see how the follow-up runs its course... I have a prediction ). Not only that... but coming at each new hopeful user with hopeful suggestions as if they have the ability/man power to actually address those suggestions, as if any of them are unique and haven't been mentioned before, is in my opinion, completely disingenuous, and partly what has gotten the Cannery into the mess they are in to begin with. Giving the illusion that suggestions and feedback will be handled on a case by case basis not only sets unreasonable expectations, it frustrates those that have seen and been directly involved in some very intelligent, well thought out attempts to do the same (Gmr's "Lets Jam" post comes to mind), and had their threads locked or ignored entirely. Manage your people's expectations, people!...then again, could just be another sock-puppet.

Conspiracy theory time!
<tinfoilhat> <storytime>Thread created and orchestrated behind the scenes by persons in or involved with the Community Team in an attempt to demonstrate to the new CEO just how well the Community Team functions in a sterile, home turf arena when not laden down by pesky things such as "public opinions", "jaded kickstarter backers bullies", or "informed customers".<storytime/> <tinfoilhat/>

Sadly, you're right about how posting the link here will increase the topic traffic, since it's pretty much one of the only active threads on the Official forum - most are either in the support section or the mobile section, and even then they are far and between. It's a pitiful abysmal wasteland of sadness. For an "in-development" game, especially one with such visibility and several years in, having a forum devoid of life is a definitive sign that things are not going well.

I think it's probably just a young user, possibly someone that plays more casual type genre, and potentially use to a lot of mobile management games. I'll bet this is also someone hoping to do reviews and streaming, hence the long laments and multiple inclusions of hours played. The grammar and overtly optimistic attitude is certainly a key marker for the former. I remember when we all use to have a similar outlook about this game tho. How far things have fallen since then.

This one is a peach too... www.22cans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=31008"once you've completed the game..." nice Can anyone (mobile players) tell me why I would want to enter a contest to win gems if I've already completed the game? Edit: also... how do you know when you've "completed the game"?

I like the tinfoilhat tags. Those should really come standard on the forum.

"The Astari land suffered from a bug in a previous version. However, this bug has now been fixed, but you will need to start a new game in order to build on this land (fixing this bug in current saves would have caused more damage than good) ."
WTF? Got to love how the iOS version doesn't warn people it's an unstable beta, I'm surprised there hasn't been a riot over there in mobile land.

Apple, along with mobile users everywhere are well aware of the fact that this is a fully released, feature complete, well designed game. The Editor's Choice award is proof of this. All of these gem refunds and world wipes and settlement devestating bugs, apology posts on facebook, twitter and the 22cans forums are simply dramatic PR theater...

These games monetise time so if I lose my progress what is my time worth?

Why would they riot as it is a free game, they don't care (still expect support though), as for buying/losing gems, I know when I played it I didn't buy any so what could you say? If you did lose gems all 22cans need to say is sorry and here have 100 gems for you trouble?

(on 22scones forums)
"Once you've completed the game"
Are you serious?
How can people complete the game when the game is only 50'ish procent finished? Do you realize you sound a bit too enthusiastic and keep on promising more then what will be delivered in the end? A.k.a. still lying to customers? Still overpromising to customers?
My post is waiting for moderation though (and will probably not make the cut) Just thought I should mention it.
===================================================
Also in the news (on the Steam Forums):
Costarring has Godus Just now
"Once you've completed the game"
So you made an ending?
Does it have to do something with a space age?
Or are you guys still deceiving or overpromising customers?
Oh and why do posts on the official 22cans need moderation confirmation?
Too afraid people post the truth?
Maybe we should tell Gaben that you give false information (about the game being finished)
So even when PM is no longer doing PR and Marketing, you still fail miserably in those departments.
Stop lying to customers!

Edit: also... how do you know when you've "completed the game"? CONGRATULATIONS, YOU WON GODUS!*There are no reasons at all to buy gems outside of bypassing the asinine timers in a single-player game. You get to pay to have a few more moments of gameplay before it is back off to waiting! In that, it is an even worse model than Dungeon Keeper Mobile and Clash of Clans, because even those give you a reason to have a third builder early on, and some apparent benefit to acquiring that resource. With Godus, it's "this game can clearly go fuck off till tomorrow" especially after they pay to get over one hurdle to see another for another day or so, for the next bit of land to farm more belief so they can do the only halfway pleasant thing to do in this "game" - sculpt. What utter shite design - even the mobile version needs an overhaul despite some folks mistakenly thinking that it might ever have an end-game or any reason for them to feel anything but kinda...maybe a little foolish at having spent their money earlier on. Did anyone possibly think of that result for this game's microtransaction model? This game doesn't even really get out of the tutorial bits before it starts throwing the store and the Clippy version of: "I see you're out of this resource - click me buy more with real money!" While Dungeon Keeper and Clash of Clans both show you how gems function, DK with some example gems, but...Godus? It is now going to be stuck between what people had previously expected and those who have managed to have a much better impressions with it - after all, for most of them it was free. And just as freely capable of being abandoned for other games unless 22cans are going by some Cliffski buyer's remorse business plan, where the customer will somehow magically force themselves to keep playing a crap game to validate the money they spent upon it. * - Reaching the "content wall" probably feels even more underwhelming than that.

It's a hollow mess, a festering rotten corpse of a software, and it baffles me how anyone can praise it; but looking at some mobile reviews and you'd think it was the second coming. Sorry if I offend anyone, but if this is your idea of a great game than you must have some very low standards for entertainment and enjoy giving away money for cheap and empty fulfillment. It's trickery, you are being fooled, pilfered and horns-waggled.
It makes me sad... nay, disappointed... in society that this acceptance of sub-par entertainment is gaining a foothold. Have better standards, which is not being entitled - tho some will try to convince you otherwise - it means you respect your self worth and expect companies to actually deliver quality products.

Got to love how the iOS version doesn't warn people it's an unstable beta, I'm surprised there hasn't been a riot over there in mobile land. They technically can't call it a beta. They have to call it a released game in order to be allowed to exist on the store and have 'in-app' purchases. One of the many hoops they have to jump through in order to get on the mobile store fronts, essentially lying about what state the game is in to ensure they can make money off people. For citing source: developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/2. Functionality 2.9 Apps that are "demo", "trial", or "test" versions will be rejected. Beta Apps may only be submitted through TestFlight and must follow the TestFlight guidelines So in order for 22Cans to get Godus onto the store as they ahve, they had to state to Apple that Godus was no longer in beta but was a released title. It's one of the reasons I lost hope in much changing with the game when they pushed out the mobile release. And 2.2 sealed the deal, it was reflective of everything mobile, and with 22Cans presenting that state of the game as a "Release build" for their entire mobile platform and the PC version being taken away and replaced with the exact same environment at the time sent a very clear message.

It really puts "former?" 22cans management into perspective, doesn't it. Hopefully the new CEO is less inclined to outright lie to Apple, and their customers where "completed" products are concerned. Notice none of the Community team at the Cannes has ever refuted this with anything more than spin and fluff? I noticed. It's a shame Apple hasn't... then again, if Godus is bringing sales in, Apple has little reason to protest I imagine
