Well, building me a cat tree was one of the conditions of him being allowed to use the conservatory at a workshop. He is quite excited about it though, I think! It's a good opportunity for him for practice making something reasonably simple before he builds some proper furniture (he's also planning on making a coffee table and a games table). It's going to be a sturdy, heavy piece of furniture but with a relatively small footprint. The design will be quite similar to the Leopet model. The posts are going to be made of spruce, the platforms plywood. I'll probably upholster the platforms in carpet since they seem to prefer the texture to faux fur, and we'll stain the wood but haven't picked a colour yet.
I just hope they actually use the damn thing!

A new coffee table?? ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo........... I would kill for one with drawers and more storage space.

Good choice of crisps you've got there.
I love how one of your cats was involved throughout the entire build process. And that tree has some good height on it! Are you pleased with it? Seems to fit perfectly in the space.

Seems to fit perfectly in the space. Actually both of them where there from the start. They got in the way a little bit but not enough to be too bothersome. I just had trouble taking pictures while they were on it. You know what it's like taking a picture of a cat. It's insanely hard. They always move right when you take the picture. They're bastards that way. Like they don't want to share their cuteness. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the tree. The plates feel strong and they're rather weighty. It's a whole different bowl of wax compared to that other piece of crap mini tree. And this one didn't even cost twice the price of that tiny one. The tiny one feels rather flimsy at that. And the tube isn't even really tube shaped, it's warped. Ba'al (the cat) could probably tear it to shreds if he wanted to. (of course I could do that too) P.S. I'm glad I have your crisps approval. |
