Lack of goodwill is a massive problem and is probably why they community reps are having such a frustrating time. It's also partially why Matthew and I spent time out of our weekend playing the game publicly, if only so as to demonstrate we're not cold-hearted professional PR types.

I don't like: Ignoring a unpleasant question or answering with something that is only loosely related or way to vague to actually answer something. Mods that Cherry-pick in discussions. Banning people for minor offenses.

Luffy07 has been banned too. He only posted 4 posts in the last week. He hasn't opened one of the threads that was locked. I'm not sure what he was banned for. Agamemnon-Hellmapper has been banned too. He hasn't opened one of the locked threads either. His post history - he even agreed with muir recently. Is participating in a petition reason enough to get banned? What about the other people that participated? Or is it because he stated that he'll contact steam because he disagrees with the moderation? There is a whole thread about reporting MrDrPink... Will everyone that participated in that thread get banned too?

Actually no, I'm basing my statements on what I know of publisher/developer relationships after 10 years in the industry married to how I've seen the Design team work since I joined the company. Okay, so then you were answering the question in good faith and to the best of your knowledge but without having any sort of prior confirmation about the topic from the management of 22Cans or from other people who do know the answer to the question and are employed and/or contracted by either 22Cans or DeNa. See, here's the thing. Look what it took for us to get you to admit that you in fact do not know the answer to that particular question. People have been asking this for who knows how long and every time when you replied you told us that the DeNa publishing deal has had no effect on the development of Godus. Now you have told us that you actually do not know. Now THAT is worth something! I realize that it would make your life much easier if you could just brush us off when we ask annoying questions like these but it's really for the best if you wouldn't. In a way it could be said that in the eyes of the public 22Cans is on trial right now in the court of public opinion. The internet is the court room and the people online are the judge and jury. I think it would probably be in 22Cans' best interest if you'd approach the community from that perspective. What I mean is that when you are about to give us an answer on sensitive questions, you might consider yourself to be in the witness stand. As such I think you should strive to give us answers the same way as you would give them to the prosecution in the presence of the judge.

To be honest I think you would go a great way by revoking Muir's moderator privileges and finding yourself a more neutral one. I'm sure he's a lovely person but he is very clearly biased and (to not put too fine a point on it) very few people actually like him. I appreciate that as a mod you're not in it to make friends but at the same time he doesn't command any respect on any of the forums either.
Food for thought maybe?

The forums would truly be empty afterwards. The moderation of the steam forums, especially the punishments, seems completely arbitrary. I've never seen that bans are rolled out for first time offenses and I never seen a 30 days ban as the first ban except for things that go clearly to far (racist hatespeech in a gaming board, for example) To be honest I think you would go a great way by revoking Muir's moderator privileges and finding yourself a more neutral one. According to himself he's just following orders. Seems like he become a scapegoat.

So people were banned because some fans didn't liked the atmosphere? In a discussion board? For posts that were sarcastic but not insulting?
No warning for the first offenses?
Thats the very definition of arbitrary and the current shitstorm is to be expected.

Yes, that's right. I do remember the time when we had loads of goodwill to give. Other "indie devs" would be happy to get so much goodwill. 22cans reacted with silence and lies. But we gave them some more goodwill, only to get some more silence and lies.

I think sometimes it's ok to give up your weekend for something like this. They may have thought it'd make their work life easier. And perhaps it will. But certainly nobody should give up ALL of their weekends.

Well Matthew made a big deal out of how he was giving up all his awesome weekend plans, doing the community a big favour by playing Godus for us.
If the CMs want to do that kind of stuff it's up to them I guess.

LOL, I have seen Ba'al game for 18 hours. It not supposed to be a punishment. People paid for this game and so now you are calling it a hardship to play it? That is pretty sad.
