Almost daily I am more astounded at how out of touch and clueless 22cans is.
because I expect it to vanish off steam and it is totally astounding
( I was reading and my brain could not fathom who thought this would help.),
I sort of think the guy is on the level as it is deep into the "you can't write this shit!" realm but either this is the worst case of fake PR insert ever or this guy honestly thought his posts would help and was kissing up to get a job...
just selecting some jewels for the folks not wishing to read the over 225 comments now at just 2 hours in...
thread "Roadmap is, you guessed it, delayed. "
from George;
"I'm afraid that due to a number of reasons - not least having an extended chat with Zoythrus over Steam just now - I won't have the road map ready to share with you today."
Shrub/ inter (wants to be a 22cans CM)/ whatever Zoythrus is states,
"trust me, that is the PC roadmap, and it's going to be great, just wait and see.",
"been given some insight from what I've been told and from Peter's new video, and that has given me great hope. It's actually going to be much better than we see right now, but we're going to need a little faith. The devs have a plan (even if it might now seem like it), but it's a fairly decent plan. We just need to be patient.",
"No, I didn't sign an NDA, but that doesn't mean that I should just go blabbing everything without knowing what I can and cannot say. But here is something I can say, they're focusing a little bit more on the mobile, but in a way that will improve the PC. Trust me here, I'm being totally honest.",
"They are listening quite intently to everyone's feedback, but they need to get some things to synergize first. We're going to be waiting for a while on certain features, but they will be awesome.",
" they WILL work on PC. Think of it like.....cycles. They want to dedicate their brainpower to mobile development for a while (while giving us weekly bug-fixes and updates), then switch over to PC again (while updating the mobile). They're trying to keep it syncronous.",
"I want nothing more than to help connect 22Cans and their community, and you have my honesty on that. But, that doesn't mean that I can just discuss EVERYTHING, because 1. I'm not entirely in the loop and 2. I want to respect their secrecy on a few things. I can't go into detail on some stuff, but I do want to help the best I can.
If you don't want to trust me, that's fine, but I do want you to know that I'm doing my best to tell what I can.",
"businesses have to keep a few secrets - that's just the way things are. George and Matt go under a lot of stress because of this, and now that I've gotten to see their side, I totally understand now. This isn't easy, Splitter, but I'm doing what I can to help, even if it sounds vague. You're just going to need a little faith.",
"22Cans is still trying to find a balance in things, so give them some time.",
"And Peter has great plans, but as his video states, his development process isn't like that of other devs. I'm going to be honest, doing a KS and early access probably was a terrible idea because of his dev cycle, but it's what he has to live with.",
"Honestly, even if I could repeat the entire conversation to you, I don't know what it would say. It was nothing groundbreaking or of extreme importance to the community. Mainly, it was about the interactions between 22Cans and their community, and how to increase morale and faith with you all. They're trying to dig themselves out of the hole they've gotten themselves into, but since this is all about miscommunication, it might take some time for complete damage control.",
"Now, hear me out on something, the mobile release is not a betrayal of the PC, but an enhancement. They want to release it to get another side of gamers into Godus, and hopefully get their opinions and feedback, and then use the combined feedbacks from the PC and mobile to make two AWESOME games. They want to develop both at the same time, for the benefit of each other. That's their plan. It's not for naught, guys, they WANT your feedback, bad or good, so that both the PC and the mobile are both badass.",
(by this point he is having a new one ripped;)
"I am not a CM (although, honestly, I'd like to become one, despite this incident), so I'm not exactly the most fluent in PR-ese and riot control. I just wanted to say that it's going to be okay, not have it spiral into what it is now. Also, that's just how I talk, irl, sorry for the resemblance to Moly.
So, please, give me a break. I didn't think that everyone would grab their torches and pitchforks just because I *tried* to be reassuring.",
"I told you earlier, they're working in "cycles." They want to work on the mobile version (just to get it out there and stable), then return to the PC for a cycle, then go back to the mobile, etc.
And in these cycles, there will be smaller cycles - they'll work on the Hubworld (which will be for PC first), then they'll work on followers, etc.",
and this is where I lost astonishment and went to response required,
"I meant a miscommunication between us and Moly back when this was still on KS. His dream and our expectations were not aligned, and that's why it feels like he is betraying us in a lot of ways, while it seems like he doesn't care. He does, and is now realizing this miscommunication."
um,
"miscommunication between us and Moly back when this was still on KS"
No offense but,
failure to disclose on your kickstarter that you are making a casual P2W mobile game,
being shocked anyone would think it was a P2W element when the obvious P2W gems in the first video of in game is shown,
outright lying when caught in a publisher deal with a known "mobile P2W" distributor,
having your MBA buddy blog "We managed to secure Kickstarter funding last year and are working on our second big game, Godus, which is essentially the God game brought to mobile and tablets",
being stunned at the response when the cash shop is shown on the first Steam release and then hiding the shop to try and halt the bad PR,
going silent for 5 months because "trust us" then releasing an even more dumbed down so mobile can run it build,
claiming "click and swipe" touch screen mechanic is massively less clicking,
giving interviews about needing to train the PC gamers to accept the P2W crap shop before hoisting it into the mobile to PC port you keep claiming is a PC game,
telling reddit you need to remove some swear words from a doc so you can release it then not producing so much as a blank sheet of paper,
tweeting "The first step of our real journey starts today. Sorry to be so cyptic" and when the "step" is the iOS P2W release on the mobage network,
rigging the star ratings on said P2W mobage release,
and then claiming there was ever any PC development which occurred to be returned to,
is not miscommunication. It is mental illness.
Godus is a cry for help.
