Leave your opinions on the Godus 2.0 experience here. When you finally get home from work and get to play it for yourself. I'll start off with my own very limited evaluation based on my (so far) very limited playtime. When I got to the part where I was able to sculpt I noticed that the sculpting feels significantly improved. No longer will you have to drag a hundred times to shape the land a little bit. I would say you can now sculpt maybe 10 times as much land with a drag as you could before. Also it feels fluent. Collecting belief is much less of a chore. Off course it will always be a chore as long as you keep having to collect it. It seems that you don't have to go around collecting it as often as before. That might be because abodes take longer to generate belief. I haven't really played long enough to form a solid opinion on this though. But I still think it would be better not to have this mechanic at all. And that's pretty much it for now. I ran into a severe bug when I was changing resolutions and fullscreen toggling. It caused my screen to go black and I could do nothing except for give my laptop a hard reboot. Thankfully I didn't have any unsaved files open in other programs. It took some time to replicate and report the bug. I guess I can go back to playing now.

I haven't played lately before this update, so I don't know what's changed, but compared to when I last played the sculpting is smoother (if still a bit twitchy with which bit of land it's chosen to sculpt. Building is a lot clearer, it's easier to tell from visuals what's going on with my peeps. I like the card/sticker timeline thing, it gives character to my civilisation (would just be nice to see what stickers I used to unlock cards just to look back on the dawn of my civilisation in fondness). No repeated clicking = happy thumb. The people do interact with each other outside of building after you get the right card, but it still looks forced, gonna be sweet when they eventually expand on that. Haven't really played much beyond 40 population, so can't really comment on the core of the game. So far, though, I like where they've taken it.

I get the feeling from reading threads on 22c.com that a lot of people are still really annoyed in general, and it's clouding their judgement of the update... Though I guess I'll wait and see. I'm actually quite excited to get trying it out myself. [edit] Ugh, Steam forum seems even worse

Only seen one post that was really negative. Haven't seen the steam forums.

I only was able to do about 15 or 20 min. So my option may change. But besides no Click click click to remove trees and rocks it feel very much the same to me. That being said I did have some issues with my mouse and only the short time to test so think option will change most likely. Oh beyond the one bug that if you do not accept the tutorial you still have to do it just with no island to look at to know what you are doing.

I just got upto about 200 population. I plan to keep my initial thoughts upbeat. It is better than the original.
Sculpting is lots better and more fluid. Collecting belief is better and the tune is different now. There is some interaction between people but I'm not yet sure how this affects the game. I'm finding the controls difficult to achieve and getting settlements I think will be easier after you have done the first few, I have just completed my first one. I'm not sure I really understand how to do things, but that is because I'm old and stupid.
It does feel rather linear still. Pretty much you do it one way with minor options. Quests are a bit strange to understand.
All in all far better.

Sculpting didn't change much. But It really, really hurts to sculpt with that unchangeable camera angle.
The leashing mechanic... Well, it's good. It's very good. The only problem is... It shouldn't be here. At all. Even good micromanagement system is an eyesore in the genre that should have no micromanagement per se. Friendship card: Now that's an interesting one. It looks good. They made much interesting animations for it. But how it affects gameplay? There are 2 things, good and bad. Good thing: youcan leash your breeders into empty abodes, if you (or game) made them empty, without using builders for this. Bad thing: Breeders come out and distract your builders from doing their jobs. In general: less clicking, but lots of tediousness.
Controls: The game is explicitly optimised for touch screen. You can't use right mouse button anymore.
P.S. Facebook game.

It feels like this is a mobile game on a PC platform. I like the change of cards system better so far but that is only because I am still getting chests. If they stop and I am forced to battle to get more, I will hate that. I am just about at 250 now and progressing nicely almost have the settlements. I see they the higher abodes gather more belief and I don't like that. If I want to have flat lowlands ,then I, as a God, should be able to, and since when does beach front property have the lower forms that collect less belief? Dumb. No major complaints although my screen just went kabloo and was doing a laser light show so I rebooted the game. Overall though, it feels like a mobile game.

I have to take my hat off to you all. I fired it up today and yes I totally understand that they needed to reset the world, but being back to single plane sculpting, having to collect small amounts of manna by hand, their just wasn't enough new stuff their to keep me interested until I got through the pain barrier. Combine that with the fact I remember how boring it was to flatten all those hills and in the back of my mind I know this world is again going to be lost several times before the final game is out and I just can't be bothered to play it1 I think had the been the first cut things would be different... Maybe tomorrow will be a slow day and I'll pick it back up but for the moment...

I have given it a good go since yesterday, population now about 350. I have to admit that it's not as good as I had hoped. It really does feel like belief will be sold in a shop at some point.

Later on, there will be gems. The mining craft will appears in the timeline, and we can spot gems in the background of a video for the 2.0 Godus version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul4FX7M6wlc, in the middle of the screen on the right.) I don't wanna start a topic about "monetization" here, that may be somewhere on this forum. As for me, I haven't yet started to test that new beta... later maybe...

I think I've reached a point that I'm pretty much not interested if there is anything coming or what that is. Maybe I'll continue on another day.
