I thought of this post as I've just seen Outcast here www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-22-outcast-releases-enhanced-1-1-edition-on-steam is being re-released this was the first open ended playable area game I ever brought. Before any GTAs! And first DVD game I brought. Others oldies I loved replaying are Populous In the beginning. Portal 1 & 2 Half-life. World of Warcraft 3. Star Wars KOTOR. All the GTA III series. From dust. Edit: oh and Fry Cry (replaying that now) Anyone else have guilty pleasures to replay?

When I play I generally only play old games. Just played some Populous the Beginning today actually. I might play Civilization, Settlers, Capitalism, Railroad Tycoon, Age of Empires, Pirates, Premier Manager or whatever. Recently played King's Quest 1 and 2 for the first time ever. Every now and then I play through the Portal games just coz they're awesome.

Loved civ 4, but it broke my machine (very old rig) Didn't get on with settlers for some reason. Alway wanted to try age of empires.
They aren't really that old school yet, but I will go back and play the older assassin creeds. Loved them too.

They aren't really that old school yet, but I will go back and play the older assassin creeds. Loved them too. Civ 4 is the one I play these days, but I started out originally with the first Civ and played the ones in between as well. Haven't really gotten into Civ 5 yet. Started out with the original Settlers and I still play this now and again on an emulator. I also sometimes play Settlers 6 but funnily enough it's not as good as the first game simply because it's too confining and too repetitive with the missions all being pre-set and all. Haven't actually played any of the Settlers games in between but supposedly Settlers 2 is quite good. I started out with the first Age of Empires and played that quite a bit. I played AoE 2 a little bit but only after I had played AoE 3. I have to say AoE 3 is awesome even though it's strictly playing through missions. Never really got into 2. If I play now it would usually be AoE 3. There's a ton of old games that are really good compared to the uniform load of shite that's on the market these days. Now every game seems to need to have first person perspective and loads of weapons. Bah.

C&C Generals. I love those challenges. Also, Star Wars: Empire at War. The multiplayer is dead for a while now, but you can't say it was ever good, right? It didn't even have good balance anyway.

I liked empire at war, definite a replay able game. I played generals once, but never again, I did replay red alert and the tiberian c&cs. Also loved the Warcraft series. One I never got around to was Starcraft which a lot of friends recommended but I never picked up.

Me too. I felt that the Starcraft is too much sports-oriented and started to lose enjoyability of unexpected.

Fallout is one I've never played. RPG right? Yeah. Though Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are FPS-RPGs

Two games that hold massive amounts of nostalgia for me are Little Big Adventure 1 & 2. I still highly recommend the 2nd actually (both are great stories, but the 2nd fixed a lot of annoying technical issues.)

GTA San Andreas. First time I played it I was too poor and had nowhere to buy it so I played it with an awful pirate translation which became as much of a meme as All Your Base Are Belong To Us afterwards, namely Потрачено and Сломано. After I finally got it on Steam, I had to downgrade it recently to 1.0 and then to install some fixes to get it closer to PS2 quality and even better than PS2.

Powermonger for me, love it even if it is somewhat dated. I would love to get hold of an old amiga too, and a copy of pinball fantasies. Could play that all night long with a few beers in hand!

The original RidgeRacer on PS1 still makes me smile. And Super Bomberman 2 on the SNES.

I'd loved to play C&C Generals, You can. My skype is the same as my nickname here if you want to do some so-op against bots first (I never had the chance to play competitively since I'm too antisocial). BTW, did I mention this?

I would need to find a version of Generals that can run on Mac, but if I can find copy in a shop somewhere I'll be up for some co-op sessions.
