The problem was that the posts were originally part of the 'Trading' forum... Were they? I thought they were moved from the main discussion forum.

Not sure how the setup for the forums goes, but I suspect they may have renamed a/the trading forum to the new subforums (22cans & Kickstarter discussion/Off-Topic) forgot to switch off the trade functionality at first, we grumbled about it because it looked like crummy bullshit, they switched it off, and because Steam forums are a clunky, cumbersome mess, they changed the properties of some threads but not others. This led the first few moved threads to disappear and cause the community team to go, "Oh fuck, here's one more thing for them to toss at us, as if they needed more." Thus they scrambled to contact Steam dudes that could resolve the issue before Steam burst into flames ripping them another new one, got it sorted, but now some of us remain suspicious (and have a stock of miscellaneous objects at the ready for when something slips up because the game's still not a game). You know, standard procedure with businesses that have fucked you over. Even when they do something right, you're ready for them to do something wrong. Kinda like mini-EA, where even if they publish a decent game, you anticipate it being riddled with microtransaction garbage, always online, or for them to suddenly close the studio.

I'm really hoping they'll do more things right, but I see your point.

I was going to add a brief update, but where did all the posts in this thread go? It's only showing four to me and there were about twenty a while ago.

@ Lord Ba'al Positive. The open board front page ( godus.boards.net/board/12/open-board ) says that this thread was started by Avalanche [ me : o ) ], yet the first post is from peteroverpromise and peteroverpromise's post quotes mrdrpink, yet mrpink's post isn't in this thread anymore. Plus, none of my original posts about the Subject are present (and I can't delete posts). All in all there were 20 replies. Including a sidetrack into moved posts that continues at the top. The earlier posts on that are gone, along with a couple of posts from yourself asking to keep you updated.

They were having issues a while back but vanishing posts I hadn't noticed yet. I hope we can get them back.

Thanks. Not sure if the 'sysadmins closing in on the issue' indicates they'll be able to sort something out, but weird problem. Hopefully they can figure something out and/or what went wrong.

Sooooo, it seems ProBoards didn't make any progress on this? Apparently not. Thanks for reminding me. I shall have a look at the proboards support forum when I get home.

ProBoards apparently couldn't find anything to indicate that the posts are missing. Their explanation is that somebody must have deleted them. If that is the case, it wasn't one of us.

Wasn't me either. As far as I can see, even if I wanted to I'm unable to delete even my own posts, let alone anyone else's, since I posted using a Guest account.
I really don't know what to make of it all.

My initial post was about the current Subject "Chargeback request successful", in that my Chargeback was approved. Subsequent posts related to someone from 22cans warning me about using a Chargeback against Steam and me pointing out that I don't even have a Steam account and backed the Kickstarter. Later posts drifted into the realms of others posting about missing/moved Steam posts, which is where the posts now start.
My Jul 29 post was to be an update to say that I did indeed get my £15 credited back to me and I've heard nothing back to say that it has been challenged in any way. There were a couple of posts from yourself thanking me for the info and to ask me to update you. I said I would ... sooooooooo... consider yourself updated : o D

I've been thinking about posting this and I really don't know much, but here goes: I don't know how serious people are about getting their money back. Maybe it's been too long or people gave up long ago. I don't know how many people asked. And I don't know what form 'asking' took or how persistent it was. I don't think 22cans have refunded anyone. I also don't know if I'm the only person to have got their money back. The point though is, I did:- via a Chargeback. I don't even understand how the Chargeback system works. At least not in the devil of the details, but if anyone is interested, then there may be possibilities for those who wish to pursue them. The outcome of which I have no idea and I make no recommendations, but it may be possible to even get a refund from Steam, without risking the account being closed. Or not! I really don't know, so it would be your decision, but something that I think could be very important is that, even though I backed the Kickstarter, I didn't make the request for the Chargeback to come from Kickstarter. For me, in the U.K., with my bank, I was told that I needed to use the official company headquarters name and address of the company I was claiming from (company ID number would be good too). As in, the registered office headquarters in the U.K. as required by U.K. Law to trade [no, I'm not a lawyer... what do you mean "Well, duh."? Shut up ) ]. For me, that was 22cans. That was who I was claiming from. I did that. I made no mention of Kickstarter's offices, who took 5% of the original £20, or Amazon for that matter, who take between 3-5%. I named 22cans and 22cans only. I presented my case to my Bank and the Chargeback was approved. I got my £20 back and have heard no more about it. Issues now though exist in that it has been so long, that a claim could well be very much invalid. However, during my claim, I was told that the issue of when to claim can be based on a time frame from a failure to deliver on the contract. I think I'm right in saying that the debacle of late last year/early this year, led to several instances of claims that the game would take 'another nine months to develop'. Those nine months could well be coming up soon (you would have to look up such information to present as evidence), leading to the possibility of contacting 22cans after that deadline has expired (even with the issue of an "estimate"), to try and resolve the situation. If that is not fruitful, then it could well be that 22cans would be in breach of contract by failing to deliver on that new deadline and a Chargeback could be valid again. Or not! Whether any of this actually applies to you, your country, your bank, your card (Debit Cards can be eligible for a Chargeback as well as Credit Cards) and whether you will be able to bypass Kickstarter or Steam and claim all the money directly from 22cans, completely adhering to Kickstarter/Steam's Terms and Conditions thus preserving any accounts with those entities without penalty... wait for it... I don't know. I might simply say ask your bank/card issuer for advice and see what they say, but seriously, don't take advice from me. But if anything I have said has piqued your interest, then I got my money back by reading up on some things, contacting my bank, doing some other things and it worked out. I presented my case fairly, without embellishment, invention or bad faith on my part and left it up to my Bank to decide. Maybe others will be able to do the same. It is completely up to you though. Just some thoughts and things that happened to me for your consideration... Or not : o ) As I said, I really don't know much.
