I'd really hoped this announcement would be received a little more warmly, tbh. Sigh... I want to believe... I want to be happy about Godus... but.. really, try reading back over that announcement through the eyes of someone that has externally witnessed the entirety of Godus' evolution thus far. If read through a cheery, hopeful lens the news sounds great. If read through a cynical market-speak-proof lens with all things 22cans considered... it's hard to be optimistic about an announcement so full of fluff words and non-commitments. Still... Looking forward to results of these sprints. Proof in the pudding and all that jazz. I personally apologize for all my negativity... I wish I was more cheery about this. Thanks for the update regardless George.

I'd be only too happy to clarify anything you feel is a fluff-word or non-commitment, I was very much trying to avoid marketing-speak altogether.

Well, for starters could you clarify exactly which platform(s) will be included in the quote below? Just Steam? Or will the team be split between mobile/PC? "Directly following the launch of Godus on Android, we'll be moving into a combined PC and maintenance sprint"

I'd really hoped this announcement would be received a little more warmly, tbh. I really wish my google-fu was better, but for those that played Might and Magic IV, I think it was: and the people were happy.... yea. It really works better is you see the intro video Edit: Well all it required was a little persistence, and it looks like my memory of it was off. It was not And the people were happy, my comment would be at about 1:00. Also now I can not help but replace Lord Xeen with Lord Peter but the same laugh. From IGN: Other rules are more financial in nature. One requires it to launch on Early Access at the same time as other storefronts. Another requires sales to be consistent, and requires that developers don't set a price on Steam that's higher than other stores. So are these retro active? How would this effect Godus? Does this mean the Ios/Android versions are going to be forced to split to be "different" games?

"Directly following the launch of Godus on Android, we'll be moving into a combined PC and maintenance sprint" Many of our bugs are cross-platform, so the maintenance side of the sprint would see benefits to both PC and mobile players. However, the overall priority in the sprint would be for PC - that doesn't just mean bugs, but also that any new/improved features/functions would be either PC-specific or PC-focused. From IGN:Other rules are more financial in nature. One requires it to launch on Early Access at the same time as other storefronts. ...also, you guys read IGN? You don't read sites like Kotaku or VG24/7 instead?
I was always amazed in the focus groups I've attended that so many people read IGN, a very small selection read GameSpot, but that the sites I visit (Polygon, Kotaku, Eurogamer, Giant Bomb, VG24/7, Destructoid, C&VG, GameTrailers, GI.biz) are basically unheard of by (apparently) most gamers.

I'd really hoped this announcement would be received a little more warmly, tbh. It's an announcement when I have it in my email in-tray as a backer. It's an announcement if I get it on the 22can forums as a backer. It's an announcement if its an update video in the youtube-verse. However an posting on an unofficial forum about an announcement on one of the official forums about a future announcement subject to change/confirmation, is what?

I posted it, therefore this is official info (hence all the TBCs). I shared it here because I thought you'd appreciate an early heads-up. I'll get it posted on our official forums now. EDIT: You can now read this announcement on 22cans' official forum by following this link.

I'd really hoped this announcement would be received a little more warmly, tbh. The warm and cuddly reception party is being worked on, however all of it is still up in the air and TBC. An observation from the side - it would appear that many of the long-time visitors are a bit tired of waiting on promises that may or may not be kept. That may well explain why fewer people respond and fewer people respond positively - because they simply no longer check the Godus websites daily or even weekly. Also, yes I check IGN (a few times a week), I also frequent Kotaku (daily) and a variety of other sites when I'm looking for info on specific games.

Yes I have been a long time IGN ready and subscriber. I love Beta testing MMOs and such so started subbing to IGN for the beta chance and keep subbing now because I get a free game a month and it is habit. I have heard of other but because I have been with IGN for so long it is habit. I also enjoy thier TV and movie reviews. I read their TV review to see what Easter eggs I might have missed and to see if there is a new TV show I might want to check out. Same really with their movie review. I am not sure if the other sites offer such.

As you know, the community has requested me to share info early so as to be more open and forthcoming in our communications, but not to makes promises I can't keep nor commit to activities that never come to pass. Posting that announcement was trying to walk the tightrope between those two desires. That's all this is. I've been pushing hard for this on your behalf for some time now, so your withering response is somewhat disheartening and a little demotivating.

You know what? I get it. I really do. If I were any of you, I wouldn't believe that we're actually going to be doing this (and soon, too) either.
I suppose, though, that at least this will be a genuinely credible way for us to build up and restore the enormous amount of trust and faith we've lost amongst our PC players.

I suppose, though, that at least this will be a genuinely credible way for us to build up and restore the enormous amount of trust and faith we've lost amongst our PC players. On the plus side, all this nonsense has created plenty of easter egg material for you to work into the final game. We've whallets, dinosaurs, dragons, walking gems, mermen, immortal followers, waitus, Astari prejudice, divine RSI, what's a god need with stickers/cards/gems, and probably loads of other stuff not coming to mind. Edit:
...also, you guys read IGN? You don't read sites like Kotaku or VG24/7 instead? I was always amazed in the focus groups I've attended that so many people read IGN, a very small selection read GameSpot, but that the sites I visit (Polygon, Kotaku, Eurogamer, Giant Bomb, VG24/7, Destructoid, C&VG, GameTrailers, GI.biz) are basically unheard of by (apparently) most gamers. Personally, I avoid IGN because the site layout is unappealing to me. I keep a tap on most of the sites you mention though, more by happenstance than anything else. Kotaku's practically unavoidable, Polygon caught me with their site design, Giant Bomb caught my attention when one of their staff died and led me to watch their long-play session of Deadly Premonition (and to eventually grab that bizarrity of a game), TotalBiscuit pointed out Eurogamer (and their Digital Foundry articles are pretty great), and uh...Not sure how I encountered the rest all that much outside of them being game-news related. I don't really read them very thoroughly, but I keep an eye on their headlines. Oh yeah, I also avoid GameSpot these days because they also have an unattractive site design to me (and I heard some rumblings about some dude being fired for one of his articles or something?). Speaking of iffy site designs, GameTrailers is a real mess to me. I used to try to use them for E3 coverage, but their video player was on such a fritz trying to rewind stuff and digging up some other videos proved fairly cumbersome that I mostly rely on either Game Informer or Giant Bomb's YouTube channels. DOUBLETRIPLEQUADRUPLEEDITS:On an entirely separate note, Kotaku has a pretty decent followup to the AC: Unity MTX features. I think 22cans could take some notes from their observations. Given, you guys already recognize parts of this (e.g. holding off on microtrans until a little ways into the game), but there's obviously some room for improvement.

George, I hate to say this again, but it is nothing against you and it does not matter where it gets announced at, it is just after years of being burnt caused me and many others to still say....actions speak louder than words and I will believe it when I see it.

I don't think I will believe it when I see it. Sudden reversal of positions, rage at the absence of mobile elements and 22cans goes mad not knowing what to do anymore (assuming they did to begin with).
