I may be wrong, but the article doesn't appear to be much more than a "shill piece" for UCA. I doubt Tim's journalistic interest in the Godus story goes past "Hey! Look what this guy that graduated from the school I write PR pieces for did! Pay our school money and you can be versatile and successful like him! Wheeee!" That said... I couldn't have said it better myself, Hardly. Hopefully, IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME, statements like yours will be disseminated to journalists who are willing and able to make a difference with the info.
I know he doesn't care but I'd come back from holiday and I was in the mood to write a long email so I sent it off. I want to write to games journalists as well asking them to follow up on the state of GODUS since many of them - I'm looking at you IGN - helped Peter hype it before release. Probably best to wait until mid January to do this though.

Gee why did I do a computing degree and 20+ years in the industry when I could have studied film and become a designer that way... Im not an expert on these things but it seems there are way to many people in specialist and non-coding roles at this indie developer. On the flip side it probably made it easier for Jack and Peter to make outrageous promises given they had no real understanding of their ability to implement them.

I don't know how the new game will work, but I'd hedge my bets it will be mobile from the off. They'll run off the back of curiousity and Godus iOS success claims. I think PM will feel burned by PC now. The thing that worries me is he'll make more claims for the new game and get away with it again.

I agree, I don't think we will ever see Peter try and release a serious PC game again. He's a mobile bandit now.

Yes, it would almost seem they pissed off some highly capable computer knowledgeable folks. A mod could remove this stuff in a few minutes if anyone cared enough to have one on over long holidays. I never heard of shutting down for 2 weeks but I guess they don't need to care and so why should they in their eyes? Take Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day off, the rest are working days.

That must be targeted spam, someone gone out of there way to hit 22cans. I would agree. A simply adept Admin crew could prevent this and I certainly would hope a video gaming company had some adept Admins with good IT skills behind them.

I'm sorry, the "random, uninhibited spam-bot army" is a little too convenient, for multiple reasons. No tinfoil hat involved, wouldn't put it past someone from 22cans spamming their own forums.

Hmm, interesting theory. People can't fill the forums with hate if they're drown out by spam. But they have always had awful security measures, and terrible forum monitoring. So it's no surprise that they've become an open target.

You'd think the spammers would moderate the spam, after all if the website is so bad nobody visits their spam will not be seen.

Hardly looking to catch out/ attract users or infect me with viruses as per the usual spam crap. This is purely a harmless fill your forum spam. Really does raise the why do it question?

Two weeks before xmas they decided that the spam was out of hand but that the web guys would deal with it in the new year, they then decided that they would leave the forums and several other official routes unmanned over what you'd have thought should be their coining it in time.

On the flip side it probably made it easier for Jack and Peter to make outrageous promises given they had no real understanding of their ability to implement them. Back when I started doing what I do, sans degree you did not get in - end of. Different world maybe, but all of know of the guy I know from the videos and the side we see in his 'professional role' in terms of Godus - he might be entirely different than any of us have observed him to be, but I was astounded that he got to where is currently is with a film background, though that might be my under exposure to game development pre se, but that was why I backed the kickstarter - to see how the other half lived. However I've never worked for a software shop, of any size, that would have on the basis of getting a film based degree get as far as the first interview. Even if the individual had years/decades of hobbyist exposure to development processes or languages - the first question would have been so if developing/designing software is of such an interest - err why the film degree. Had the answer been well I messed up my ucas/pcas/ucs/whatever process to get a course I actually wanted and managed to get that one... it is very unlikely to have ended up with a development post. If only for the planning ahead side of the choices or lack there of. By hey, horses for courses and all that. Whilst I'm not in the same area of software development as Jack-in-a-box, I'm utter gob smacked that for all his Jack Russell terrier bounciness in the videos thus far, he's only two years out of uni and 'a designer...'.

did you send something off to Develop (the group that actually put together the "30 under 30"?

The disappointing thing about the Develop article is it's making me sceptical of the other people that are on the list. Plus, there are what, two or so actual developers on the list? Everyone else is in a design/director role from the looks of it. 's just me being picky, I suppose.
Anyhoo, to parrot others, that article irks me somewhat.
Just so's I'm up to speed without having to read whatever propaganda Cans has put out, has Godus become at all more playable recently? I saw a thread earlier about someone taking the wheel as lead designer while Molyneux puts his harrowing touch to some other project. Was considering finding out myself by playing, but Christmas having just been there are better games I could be paying attention to if it turns out to not be worth the time.

My reading of that new designer was one of us mopes/idoits who stumped up elemental backing then got a job at toofewcans then magically, through osmosis maybe became thr new designer - not heard anything on background or experience. In playable terms I do surprising think it works on droid, though the gems and cash annoy me, as do its implosions due to loss of network connectivity, and the orientation reset just when you've twisted it to where you need it for no good reason. My pc game is at a standstill. Maxed out in homeworld and weyworld, nothing to do except collect belief. I do have collection shrines collecting ore and crops but since as I understand it the belief collection ones are number restricted and stupidlly expensive I've been collecting belief manually but am now bored with that.
