Developers wanted that - so now VALVe has offered skeezy developers an even faster way to kill off their own community and play numbers while the honest ones do have some griefer control (trust me, it's required for some games). It also allows VALVe a direct tracking of which developers are banning from their game and for why. As sluggish as Steam/VALVe seem to be in responding, they do listen. Now let's see how this turns out, just like paid mods...and the revisions to Early Access. This whole thing brings up the question - if it weren't for Early Access then how would have 22cans have otherwise released Godus to PC?

The answer to poor communication is to...not communicate and try to hide that fact, along with their pet troll being called out being an arsepull for "moderation" (22cans doesn't like that, and apparently wishes for you to do nothing but report it so they can in turn do absolutely nothing while they enfarce fake rules upon others to hide mummy's broken vase like a bunch of children): godus.boards.net/post/18660/thread

Its bullshit that valves steam support moderators suggest the only way to counter a bad developer is to ignore them, its bad advice, and faulty logic! When you know that the developer is out there actively allowing miss-information about their product to be spread to make it sound more appealing, silence is not an answer, people need to stand up and confront it.

snip....."See you in a week".
Are the mods 10 years old? Who says that as a professional mature responsible mod?
They might as well have said....." Nah, Nah, Nah.....you can't touch me for a week!"......and ran away like a school child on a playground.

About par for the PR's antics, as noted by Digital Jam: steamcommunity.com/app/232810/discussions/0/618458030685440308/#c618459405712857721Then when someone even dares to ask them about any of those teased details, 22cans generally pulls a runner from the topic and then later complains that there aren't as many "positive topics" when it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out why - the routine abandonment of the community by 22cans. Rinse and repeat for SS,DD.

I cant tell you how angering it continues to be that I paid money on steam, and have to come here to get info from the devs.
22cans you send everyone to the steam forums in your tweets, and yet are only honest and polite over here.
On steam your moderators are insane nazis who purge anything they think they can get away with... if you want to fix the community look at the community you keep pointing people too.
Its great that you guys drop by SOMEWHERE to pretend to be accountable but WHAT THE FUCK DID I PAY FOR?
Early access to abuse? Cause thats all we get on stem for the past 2+ years.

You can look it that war or you can look it like they've come to our turf where we moderate our own behaviour. If you think about all the banning and deleting that goes on at steam it really is preferred to have them discuss things here. I realise you may not agree but that is just something to think about.

It will be interesting to see what action the new CEO takes in regards to the poor moderation on the Steam forums, and the lack of any significant/meaningful public facing presence. I suspect either we'll be seeing a change of... "style" from the moderators in the coming weeks... or we'll be seeing some new faces around the forums. Either or would be a win for the gaming community. I think the biggest failure in regards to the Steam forums lie in the fact that public relations IS a popularity contest... one that can't be won with the type of unprofessional behaviour from the mods we've become accustomed to. Simon is tasked with digging 22Cans and Godus out of a huge PR hole, and I doubt he'll be successful without some superstars at his disposal.

Or we would see that new CEO isn't as new as we had hoped. Which is the most likely outcome, if you take into account all the "changes" we ever seen in the company.

I suppose that is a real possibility, although I'd rather keep my hopes to the contrary. Time will tell... and at the very least, he isn't running his entire ship under a self-inflicted PR embargo.

It could even be the case that the bannings were the result of a new policy being implemented by the new guy.

So I'll stay pessimist and be either right or pleasantly surprised.

I'm sure Colin has actually been with 22cans in a PR role for a while now. Seemingly the forums got the subforums just after he started.

So I suppose the delete + libel game being played by 22cans' chosen moderators, to antagonise those upon Steam for a while until baiting and banning them for expressing an opinion the moderating staff doesn't like, may very well be company policy. It looks like some mails might have to be sent after all - not just to Peter. colin22cans , do you have any input upon these actions?

All I'm saying is Colin joined and the subforums appeared, no idea what else was going on. www.22cans.com/daily-dev-activity-2nd-march-2015/ - "We also welcome our latest member to the 22cans team, Colin, who will be helping out on the PR side of things." steamcommunity.com/app/232810/discussions/6/617329920709623104/ - subforums created 10th March, coincidence?

As I've mentioned a few times now, I don't have all the facts about the 'bannings' so can't comment right now. I will find time to go through the PM's I've been sent along with the internal and external guys pov as soon as I can.
