Update 1 - 26/04/2014Hello everyone! Firstly, we would like to thank all of you for your awesome support! It’s our 4th day on Kickstarter and we have already hit the 15% mark! You made it all possible and we really want to thank you for your love and trust! We've been receiving a lot of questions, requests, and offers recently from the community and publishers. In today's update, we would like to highlight some of the more frequently asked questions and see if we can shed more light on the project. GameplayDoes your trailer truly demonstrate in-game footage or are those scenes just 3D renders/fake?Everything that you see in our trailer is comprised entirely of in-game footage. This includes all animations and events. The only thing we manipulated in the trailer was the camera. All objects featured in the trailer are already AI-driven and weren’t controlled manually. We would like to add that the majority of our models are placeholders and will be updated with more detailed/polished models down the road. Right now, even during the Kickstarter, we continue to focus our efforts on development. We are not showing any developer walkthrough videos yet as we we want to implement the currently in-development main in-game engine first. This engine will simulate living environments and conditions on every planet and will also be responsible for dynamic planet generation mechanics, atmosphere controls, and the changing of seasons. Stay tuned for our next big update which will detail our in-game engine, Prometheus! It should be coming within the next few days! Crytivo Games TeamOur team consists of talented artists, developers, and regular dreamers from all over the world. Our development team has a lot of experience from working as full-time software engineers at other companies. Certain team members have worked alongside entertainment giants such as Paramount Pictures, Disney, Sony, and more! We all feel very confident in our abilities to succeed in this ambitious project. We will definitely hire a few more helping hands after the Kickstarter as well! Why are we here? This is our first project on Kickstarter, and our first game as a team. We all love The Universim. It is not just a game made by us, for us, nor do we see it as an opportunity to make a quick buck. Internally, we call The Universim our Baby . As a young company, the number one priority for us is to deliver an amazing game to a community that expects nothing but the best- just as we would. We want to display our name proudly by delivering on all our promises. We have nothing to hide, and we want to be completely transparent with all of you. We launched a campaign here on Kickstarter because we want to stay open-minded, creative, and independent. As we said on the page, we received multiple offers from professional publishing companies but we declined them all to ensure we can stay true to our values and promises. It tears our hearts out when we see that some of you have had terrible experiences with games that were funded on Kickstarter in the past. It is really sad to see such things forcing people to turn their backs on us or other great projects here on Kickstarter. In order to prove that we are here to create an awesome game and not just to make a profit, we made promises that we will never charge for DLC, there will be absolutely no microtransactions, and you will never see The Universim on mobile devices. We understand that the mobile market is extremely profitable for developers, but we also know that we will be forced to dumb down our game in order to be able to deliver on mobile platforms. Thus, we ruled it out entirely. That is why we need your support here on Kickstarter; we want you to be our publisher! If anyone should have the biggest say, it’s the community! We are here because of you and we want to build The Universim with you by our side. So please share The Universim with your friends and families, and be sure to share our Kickstarter page on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and so on to help make this game a reality. Every bit counts! We love you all and take your requests seriously, so thank you again for all of your support! When is the Alpha/ Beta coming out?If our Kickstarter campaign is successful, we plan to release the Alpha as soon as possible. Hopefully before the end of this year (2014). The speed of development depends on the amount raised here on Kickstarter. The more we are able to raise, the bigger the team we can afford and the faster we can develop. We expect the Early Beta phase to follow a few months after this. The Steam exclusive beta will commence near the end of the beta phase to do a final test before launch. Be sure to ask us more questions over on our social networks! Our community managers answer them frequently! Twitter / Facebook / Reddit

Update 10 - 05/05/2014Prometheus In-Game EngineMany of you wanted to know a little bit more about gameplay, particularly some of the more innovative elements in the game, so in today’s update we wanted to present you with a few of the in-game features that we are currently working on. Core mechanics are on the hotplate in this humble serving of in-game tech, particularly our new simulation engine which will be responsible for the simulation of dynamic, living worlds in The Universim. We have named it the Prometheus In-Game Engine™. Prometheus will simulate various environmental conditions and changes on the planet, based on the season and timeline. On the first planet, “Mother Planet,” we will have 12 months in a similar manner to Earth. Temperature and weather effects on the planet will vary, based on the different environmental biomes. For example, the temperature in deserts will be much higher than that found in other biomes. Our goal is to make everything dynamic in respect to the particular simulated environment you are playing in. Every time you place an Epicenter (City), it will grow differently based on the conditions around it. Temperature and other conditions will affect population growth dramatically. If it is extremely cold, and you don't have the proper research to counteract this, such as fire and/or cloth to name a few, you will begin losing your population to the bitter nature of the environment. The same kind of effects extend to things like food. You will not be able to harvest much food during winter, this primarily affects the earlier stages of development, so you had better store food in advance. Some winters will last far longer than others. For example, one year you might experience a mild winter, but it will last longer than usual. The next winter could be extremely cold, but it will only last for a month or two. However, there is also a chance to experience ‘deadly’ winters which can ravage your civilization for up to 6-8 months. Research, planning, and preparation will always help your civilization to fight off whatever winter may come. Prometheus will also simulate different kinds of dynamic events, such as tornadoes, storms, earthquakes, meteors, disease, and more. Things like meteor impacts will not only leave craters on the planet and wipe out everything around it, it will also trigger fires and various secondary effects. Trees around impact-zones will be set on fire, and this fire will spread dynamically, making it extremely dangerous for nearby Epicenters, farms, and other structures. You can stop this fire from spreading too far by wielding your Creator Abilities, which allow you to do things such as dragging storm clouds to affected areas. You could also be lucky enough to have Prometheus simulate rainy weather conditions around the impact zone, causing the rain to snuff out the fires. New clouds will be generated above oceans and they will travel dynamically. Clouds have a dynamic nature as well and possess the ability to become storm clouds at any time, producing rain and lighting which can also trigger fires. Based on wind direction and speed, it will change the position of the clouds and control the spread of fires. But remember, you are a god and you will have the tools to control this. However, you had better be prepared to face the consequences for changing environmental conditions too often. Every planet you encounter in the game will be dynamically generated by Prometheus. We will also have a number of predefined ones to experiment with new gameplay and conditions! Planets will have a certain set of characteristics, such as size, biomes, temperature, atmosphere, and resources. All planets will also have varying environmental model sets such as stones, trees, mountains, animals, and so on. Every planet will be suitable for terraforming and colonization. We can’t wait to see what kind of planets you discover and how you handle them! Certain planets will be highly unstable; for example, you may come across a planet that will have a ticking timer attached to it. These planets usually have incredibly unstable cores that are ready to explode, or their sun is going to go supernova in a few minutes. It is up to you to decide if you want to risk it all and attempt to harvest the precious resources from the planet before time runs out and transport them back home, or just let it die in peace. Some planets might have unsuitable conditions in this scenario and you will need to terraform them first. You will most likely need to place atmosphere generators to generate air and thermal controllers to regulate and alter temperatures on the planet. It is not going to be an easy process, but the reward may just be worth it! Planets will also likely be inhabited by living creatures. You may come across incredibly friendly animals in your travels, which just so happen to be a great source of food for the deadly predators that will stalk your crewman from the moment they arrive. You will encounter many planets with alien wildlife that you have never seen before! The same thing applies to the flora and vegetation. We will have a massive variety of trees, bushes, and other plant life. Including, yes you guessed it, predator trees with teeth and a thirst for blood. Your people had better not come too close to these beasts! Trees will be linked directly to the oxygen level on the planet. Without them, your people will not be able to survive! Every tree will generate a certain amount of oxygen based on the planetary conditions. We plan to add a lot more detail to the different planets in the game. We will have tons of easter-eggs and secrets on the surface of the planet for you to discover. We all understand the importance of performance and stability in a game of this size, and our developers are investing a lot of time into the optimization and proper implementation of these features. Prometheus should become the main platform for absolutely everything in the game, and that is why it is our primary concern at the moment. We want to eventually create tools that will help the community mod the game and improve it down the road as well. We know you guys can be unbelievably creative and we plan to keep the doors open for you! Share this update wherever you can! Send it to gaming news blogs, your friends, share it on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and so on. We need your help and we know that we can build something really awesome together with you. Thank you all again for your continued awesomeness and support! You have all been amazing! Update 14 - 10/05/2014Greetings all!We have a small update today while we prepare everything for next week. Expect to see a lot of activity! Captain Bull Anderson approves this message. With each new day comes new possibilities! Over 60% Funded!Thank you all so much for your continued support! The campaign is still going along at a steady pace, but we have a lot planned to pick it up next week. You should see many new faces around here soon! We have 13 days left to make The Universim a reality! Please continue sharing the page with everyone you know and whatever gaming forums you are a part of. Many of you have been upgrading your pledges as well and we cannot thank you enough for that! We definitely need all the help you can offer. We still have a ways to go, but things are going to get really exciting very soon! Gameplay PrototypeOne of the biggest requests we have been receiving lately is for us to show some more gameplay. We are not too comfortable showcasing some of the major systems yet as we do not have a proper UI in place at the moment. We want it to be acceptably polished before we show something cool! There may be another build showcase coming with more features turned on, but for now we hope this will wet your appetite. This is a very early look at a few basic systems working on 'Mother Planet'. Biffa2001 will be showing it off to you! We have placed a number of the assets from different eras for you guys to have a look. There are a number of dynamic events playing out, but we disabled most of the features for this build as we aren’t ready to show them just yet. Take a look here: T-ShirtsWe recently revealed the T-Shirt Designs, but we are getting a few questions regarding sizes and colours. The shirts will be available in white, black, and sky-blue. We will be sending out surveys after the Kickstarter to confirm your design choice, colour, and size! The sizes will be available in the usual variety ranging from small to very large. We are sure we can accommodate whatever size you need! Unless you plan on getting one for your car. That could be problematic… ThunderclapWe started up a Thunderclap Campaign a little while ago that will be shaking the internet next Friday (May 18th). You guys helped us reach the goal within 24 hours! Dare we say it was quicker than lightning? We currently have a social reach of over 125000 people! This will definitely help us out a lot when the time comes! We Partnered with Curse! We are proud to announce our partnership with Curse for The Universim’s official Wiki page! You can find the Wiki page here, but it is still under construction. It will be developed alongside the game and should be fully fleshed-out by the time the game launches! New Reward Tiers! (2)$130 Physical Strategy Guide. When weaving your path through the universe and shaping the future of your civilization, it can be great to have a few useful tips on-hand. This informative guide will help you understand the mechanics of gameplay and assist you in making crucial decisions. $160 Physical Artbook. Update 15 - 12/05/2014Game Play DetailsHello backers! We have something extra special for you today! We are giving you all a quick overview of what you can expect when starting up The Universim for the first time. Everything is still in an iterative work-in-progress state, thus everything is subject to change before launch. But we love sharing our vision with the community, no matter how early, so buckle up for the first official look at what we have planned! It all begins here on the Main Menu – Welcome to The Universim! Upon starting a new game, you will soar through the cosmos taking in the beauty and majesty of the universe until finally coming to rest on a planet most suitable for your new civilization: Mother Planet. You will now have full control over the camera and movement system, giving you the perfect opportunity to explore every nook and cranny. Using the Prometheus engine, which we detailed in an earlier update, every planet you encounter in the game will be entirely unique and offer a wide range of varying characteristics such as the atmosphere, vegetation, environments, weather, and life forms. Mother Planet will introduce you to the kind of dynamic, simulated environments you can expect to find when you start exploring the universe. Although, there is still one thing missing from this equation...your new species! What are you going to name them? That choice is entirely yours to make. Your civilization is now ready to come into existence. But first things first, we need to bring up the age-old question regarding the chicken and the egg. Luckily, humanoids are a little simpler than that! Two citizens will be randomly spawned on Mother Planet, a male and a female. They might not seem like much, but they embody the very beginning of what will hopefully become a vast and growing civilization. Perhaps, if you do a good enough job, they will one day take to the stars and explore the endless expanse of the universe. However, you still have a long way to go before you can make that dream a reality. At the moment, your civilization probably has the combined intelligence of some of those pretty rocks you had a chance to admire in the beginning … fortunately, evolutionary research is just a click away! In The Universim, direct control will be mostly restricted. Instead, you will pave the way for your species’ advancement through the use of various research options that define the very core of your civilization. We expect you will end up spending quite a bit of time with the research tree, scanning over the different paths you can take while considering the benefits and consequences for each decision. Research allows your civilization to thrive in many areas such as science and technology, medicine, combat, and even fashion – which you can design using the in-game model editor. But all of that will come in time, your new civilization will first need to cover some basics such as creating clothing, acquiring the ability of speech, and learning how to hunt. There is no need to worry about micromanaging your citizens as they will take care of themselves to the best of their ability. But, to sate your curiosity, you will have a handy News System at your disposal that will keep you updated about all major events occurring in the game. This is particularly helpful when your civilization spans across multiple planets! At times, the News System may even give you the opportunity to interfere with the fate of your citizens – do you want to force peace between two warring nations, or allow them to fight it out? Alternatively, the News System might just let events slide. Although, if you are observant, you should be able to notice something going wrong, such as one of your new citizens being attacked by a wild animal. Do you choose to save them? Intervening in such situations will cost you Power, which we will cover at a later date. By this stage of the game your citizens should have begun fending for themselves, giving you the opportunity to get acquainted with the interface. This is probably a good time to take a look at available construction options. Building a safe place to live is a must to ensure the continued existence of your civilization. Although, your citizens will need to gather the appropriate resources first. Planets will have a wide variety of resources available for collection. Your citizens will become workers, taking on different types of jobs in order to harvest them. Basic jobs such as farming, mining, and hunting can be reallocated. However, as your civilization grows and advances, specialized, permanent jobs will become available allowing citizens to become scientists, astronauts, and so on. Once enough resources have been collected, you will have the opportunity to mark the location of a new Epicenter, the heart of a city. This is your chance to consider the geographical location and decide where you think your civilization may, or may not, benefit the most. Once marked, your two workers will change their jobs to Builders and get to work! Epicenters will expand automatically over time as your citizens collect resources and build houses. As the Epicenter grows, so will your population. When population milestones are reached, you will be awarded with a new citizen to add to your workforce. When this occurs, two adult workers will fall in love. What happens next is, well, up to your imagination, but eventually a new baby is born and it will be only a matter of time before he/she grows up to join your workforce and help expand your civilization. Continue with evolutionary research to advance your civilization, placing key buildings and watching your species progress through the eras. Before you know it, they will be ready to explore the stars and colonize new worlds! That, however, is an entire discussion on its own. We hope you enjoyed this small overview! We intend to release more as time goes on. Feel free to offer any suggestions or feedback on our forums! As always, thank you all for being so amazing!

Update 17 - 14/05/2014The Universim Prototype Add-OnHello Everyone,We have been receiving an overwhelming number of requests from the community as of late regarding the gameplay showcased around the internet. It looks like you all really want to try out The Universim’s Prototype! As a result, we decided to invest some time into it to give you all a taste of a SUPER EARLY prototype build that will hopefully hold you over until the Alpha Release. Today we are throwing in a brand new Add-On for backers- The official Universim Prototype (Windows version only). This addon will allow you to try out our early visual prototype. - Add-On: The Universim Prototype & Kickstarter Exclusive Soundtracks. If you want to give the prototype a shot, you can simply add $15 to your tier.
Prototype DemonstrationKeep in mind that this explorable version is nothing more than a teaser for what is to come, there will be no gameplay whatsoever. We are not quite ready to implement all of the features for public testing yet as they are in varying levels of development. We are also working on a great UI (including various research menus and the like) which is a pretty crucial element that absolutely must be included in any gameplay build we release. A good portion of the features (but not all as we want some time to polish them!) will be available in the official Alpha build which should be ready before the end of the year, if the campaign is successful. This prototype will give you a good sense of the overall mood of the game, and even allow you to discover a few easter eggs hidden around the planet. The prototype will be available within a month following the conclusion of the Kickstarter Campaign. We want to take a little more time to polish it so you can enjoy it properly. This Add-On will also include a Kickstarter Exclusive Soundtrack comprising of 7 tracks (separate from the upcoming Official Soundtrack. These are more like samples.) as a bonus. If you want to give the prototype a shot, you can simply add $15 to your tier.Bonus Soundtracks(NOTE: For some reason when I try to link to each sound clip they all link to the same one. Also I don't currently have a way of embedding the sound clips properly, so if you want to listen to some of the music for The Universim, please visit the original update page.)

Update 18 - 15/05/2014In-Game Object EditorHello Everyone!Today we have some more great news to share with you! Object editors are awesome, and judging by all of your comments and feedback we can all agree that The Universim absolutely needs one. After a lot of discussion with our team members and developers, we decided to begin working on an in-game Object Editor. We promised to develop this tool if we reached the $400,000 stretch goal, but we believe that this system will add a lot more customization and fun to the game so we want to develop it either way. We are therefore replacing our $400,000 goal with a brand new era instead: the Dinosaur Era - arrrwww arrwww , right? - Right. If we hit the $400,000 mark, you can expect to deal with the T-Rex, Triceratops, and similar prehistoric creatures on Mother Planet before the Stone Age begins! In-Game Object EditorThe remainder of this update will therefore cover more info about the new in-game Object Editor. It will not only assist you in customizing your worlds and making them as unique as possible, but also allow you to modify and create special vehicles. You will be able to customize the look of your species, change the color of their clothes, and even add new clothing elements that make them stronger. The editor will even allow you to upgrade and customize buildings! For example, you can upgrade your living facilities to have gardens on the roofs, which is really useful if your civilization is expanding quite quickly and your workers are cutting down too many oxygen-producing trees. These gardens will help you to raise oxygen levels and improve the overall air quality. You will also be able to add additional floors to make your buildings taller and create more housing for the population. Certain add-ons and customization features will be unlocked from the very beginning, but a good portion will require your time and resources to research them. The editor will also play a crucial role in planet colonization. You will need to equip the exploration rover with the right technologies in order to collect important information about the planets you plan on colonizing. You probably shouldn’t attempt to send the rover on missions without adequate environmental protection for example, especially if you plan on investigating something like a molten planet. You may lose your rover to the harsh conditions, along with time and resources spent on its construction. On a side note, you will be able to drive rovers on alien planets! But we will talk more about the colonization process in our next update. Another thing that you will be able to customize and improve are the Resource Transportation Shuttles. You can improve their travel speed and stability with newly-researched propulsion engines that come equipped with something like the signature Crytivo Industries high-speed quantum fuel-injection mechanism. You can even increase their cargo capacity and customize the overall look and feel of the shuttle, which includes the ability to add custom decals to the paint job! We want to give you the tools to build unique worlds on each and every planet and offer as much customization as we can. Once you research airplanes, you will have the ability to design its overall look by messing around with stuff like the wing styles. You can select whichever style you want, attach your choice of the various engines, and slap it on the body. You can decide the quantity and type of engines you place as well. Would you like to place two or possibly even six of them on a single airplane, or would you rather research one super-badass marvel of aviation? It is your choice how crazy or innovative your civilization will end up looking. We cannot wait to see what you come up with! We hope you guys are as excited about this tool as we are! As always, we want to thank you all for your awesomeness! There are only 8 days left to reach our goal and make The Universim a reality, so we need your help more than ever. We are getting really close now! Those of you who are raising you pledges to help us out, thank you very much! We hope you enjoy all of the awesome rewards. Be sure to share The Universim with your friends, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, gaming websites, and even support us on Thunderclap. Thank you all so much!

Update 20 - 16/05/2014Release RoadmapHello Future Creators!Today is our 23rd day on Kickstarter, meaning there is only 7 days left before the end of our Kickstarter Campaign. It has been a tremendous journey for all of us. We spent many late nights preparing this campaign and all of the content, but it has been well worth it! Hope you guys have enjoyed the ride so far! But the fight is not over yet, we still need your support. Let’s make it happen, let’s make The Universim a reality! Remind your friends and relatives that we are still here and they have one last chance to become pioneers. Create articles on gaming blogs, email your friends, create Facebook posts, submit links on Reddit, and feel free to raise your pledge and get even more exciting goodies. Many have already done so, and for that we are eternally grateful! This last week beginning on Monday is going to be quite explosive, we are going all in with getting the word out there. It all begins with the Thunderclap. Support us on Thunderclap, only 1 Day Left! Click here to Tweet about The Universim KickstarterRoad Map:In this update, we would also like to share our future plans with you. The questions keep pouring in regarding the release of the Alpha and Beta builds, and we hope to clarify by announcing the release roadmap. As you can see on the timeline above, we plan to release the first Alpha Build by the end of this year (2014) if the Kickstarter is successful. Why are we not releasing a working build within a few weeks? The truth is that we want ensure that we deliver the best possible alpha experience with minimal bugs and glitches (although there will still probably be a few!). Quality and balance is our number one priority right now when working on current and new features. We believe that laying a proper foundation is crucial. We can update and improve it all from there with your feedback. - Alpha Access Information: Everyone who pledged $30 or more will receive guaranteed access to the Alpha Build.
- Beta Access Information: Everyone who pledged $20 or more will receive guaranteed access to the Beta Build.
- Complimentary Beta Access: Everyone who pledged $15 or more will receive two weeks of Kickstarter Complimentary Beta Access before launch. Please keep in mind that this Beta access is different from regular Beta Access. We decided to include this small benefit for our Early Supporters instead of just giving you the game as we wanted to show how much we appreciate any support.
If you would like to upgrade your pledge and receive access to earlier builds, you can simply add the difference on top of what you have already pledged and select the new tier. For example: if you are at $15 and want to upgrade, you can simply add $5 to your pledge to receive access to the Beta or $15 to receive access to the Alpha. At the end of campaign, we will send everyone Surveys to confirm your reward selection and see which add-ons you selected as well. If you would like a custom add-on please contact us and we will see what we can do!Please keep in mind that this information is based on an estimated timeline. The outcome is dependent on community support, which can either allow for some of the builds to be released earlier or we might have to push it back slightly. We definitely do not want to push it back, though! That is the absolute last resort if we feel that something extra needs to be added first, or if it needs a bit more polish. There are many things that can force us to push back new releases, but they will all be for good reason. And they can only benefit the game! A big thanks goes out to everyone for their continued support! We have been reading the comments and really appreciate all of the effort you have put in already! Let’s make it happen guys!
