Oh, that's really nice! Especially "no social drinking" and "no binges" part.

Wow, so you had 10 glasses of wine over the course of a meal? That is quite an accomplishment in its own right!

They're very small glasses If they were normal sized glasses I'd be flat on the floor after three!

I just finished off a very nice bottle of whisky. <fatality!> A blend of a Macallen single malt and a Laphroaig single malt. Bought the bottle 2 days ago on Tuesday evening. My dad drunk more of it at first but in the end I figure we took it for about 50/50.

I don't drink whiskey so I can't really get my head around how much that is. Did you feel ok afterwards? Was this drinking a social thing with your dad after not seeing him in a while? I wish I was a more sophisticated drinker, and could appreciate fine wines, particular blends of whiskey, traditionally brewed whatever else, but sadly most of what I drink is just 'beer' or 'wine' and any special qualities are wasted on me.
I have made huge progress in my drinking habits. I mostly drink Becks Blue at home. When my husband opens a bottle of wine, it's rarely split half and half - normally I have two small glasses and he has the rest. We have significantly reduced both the frequency and volume of our drinking.
Two weeks ago we went to the pub quiz for the first time since last year. I enjoyed seeing everyone again (we rarely see these particular friends under other circumstances) but I found the whole experience much less pleasant than I remembered. The night was too long and I was tired. I drank what I would normally drink at the quiz, about 3 pints, but it felt like too much. The pub was crowded and noisy. I almost suggested going home before the marking was over, even though it looked like we were winning.
To the present: I drank nothing from Sunday to Thursday, then last night decided to treat myself because we were going out to see some stand-up (Dylan Moran). I had two bottles of lager before we went out, half a pint at the venue then two glasses of wine after we got home. This sounds like almost nothing, but I guess my alcohol tolerance has wildly dropped since I've reduced my intake and it hit me hard. I am typing this on my phone, in bed, feeling crappy, and have no intention of getting up any time soon even though my husband got up ages ago. I tried reading a book but had to stop because it was making me feel seasick. I'm having one of those "never again" moments, even though we have plans to go to a steak restaurant tonight and I suspect another bottle of wine might be involved.

I felt okay afterwards. My stomach was a bit upset yesterday when I went to bed but I can't contribute that solely to drinking whisky. I purchased another bottle by the way, half a liter of Japanese bliss. It's 51.5% strength so not for first timers I guess. Good stuff though. I hadn't seen my dad in about a year. So spending a week at my parents. Figured we might as well enjoy some whisky.
