Third time is a charm. You are right GMR. I started reading about GODUS Wars this morning and I was prepared to give it a chance. After reading about paywalls, microtransactions and 22Cans forum censorship I am completely outraged. I've posted my review, I've up voted all the negative reviews.

lol, thanks! I don't even know how my link mess up happened there. Had that same url and everything copied and pasted over I thought. Third time is a charm. You are right Gmr. It's like they have some weird subconscious self-loathing that makes them simultaneously want to do right, if clumsily, yet in the last moments decides that cutting the legs short on a series of chairs and dangling tightly knotted ropes over them then running atop them is a fantastic idea.

It's like 22cans is run by a clown-car full of greedy, bumbling cartoon villains, or these guys... Hey 22cans. It didn't work with Godus. It didn't work with Voyages. Stop. Just stop. Anyone with Photoshop skills want to do me a a favour and paste Simon and Peter's faces on to this? NO? Ok ;(

Ok ;( I'm at work atm (and was sleeping when you posted) but I can deliver on it tonight after work. I usually would charge $25hr for something like this, but I'll consider it a donation to the forum. XD

Welp, finally bit the bullet and gave it a try. Its as boring and simplistic as I had been led to believe. Really no strategy required and gave up after 40 minutes. Sad thing was, 20 minutes of that was spent idling, waiting for the enemy to attack my unguarded "base" and would you believe it, they just sat there. Needless to say I don't think I'll be recommending anyone purchase it...

I'm still holding off installing it, for some reason. I don't even know if I want to try playing after everything I've seen and read. Plus, I don't want to give them any data, nor feedback; I don't feel they deserve it.

Plus, I don't want to give them any data, nor feedback; I don't feel they deserve it. You really aren't missing much. Without additional units the gameplay is pretty barren. There's not much story aside from "hey, you are a god and are mad at that other god." Hopefully they avoid delivering a "story" in little blue chests this time. I assume these things will be implemented as development moves on, but right now you'd get more RTS out of the first level of Starcraft than we have out of the first continent of Godus Wars. Why? Right now Gwars feels very much like they banked on Quantity over Quality. It's great that we have an entire continent of maps and content to work through, but most of it is very much the same. There's not a whole lot you havent seen already if you played voyages in Godus Vanilla.

when I originally saw this, I thought wow, they've done it, made a zoom-able planet and I can watch the continents grow together and see my colony expand, I like it, just disappointed it wasn't what it first seemed.

One major issue I've seen mentioned and a probable fix for it:
"Half belief from abodes" should be changed to "4/5 (x0.8) belief from abodes" - as the issue has been described as a "crippling" one for gameplay then the fix should be substantial to make it a more tolerable mechanic.

I can't recall, but has Godus Wars been on discount this whole time? It's currently %10 off on Steam: Godus Wars $ 13.49(10% off $14.99) First of all, I swear at launch it was listed at $11.99 (maybe my memory is off, since I had a busy week and mostly observed on my mobile device). But why on Earth would it already be on a discount sale (a really abysmal one at that)? They really are farking desperate, apparently. How much lower do you think it'll drop in the coming weeks? I wish we could see an accurate count of how many sales have been made, but since SteamDB counts all owners, that includes all the free ones given to original Godus Backers and EA participants, we may never know. Is there any other resource where this could be scoped?

Godus Wars is in the Lunar Sale, for some reason as if all the negative attention* wasn't enough. Perhaps they're hoping someone would mistake it for Miner Wars 2081. * - 22cans may have joined the "even negative attention is still attention" club. Be a good merchant and you're just one of thousands on Steam trying to get your moment of notice to scrape a little bit of money; be one of the scumbags and you're definitely making some lists. Kind of like a street vendor/performer: Dance around and you might get some applause but little money; crap your pants and you've got everyone's attention and you might be thrown a bit of change for making folks laugh. In either case, the critical flaw is that hardly anyone sane will buy from you.

It's truly truly awful. Between s3e choking with the firewall rules, which helpfully pops under when godus war launched in full screen, then spawns another copy of itself in full screen... Interestingly(!) 2 minutes of real time into trying to actually play I found a timer running in the 15 minutes range, so nothing in game to click on at that point put its suddenly fifteen minutes - after about 6 minutes in stem before I actually got useless buttons to click, I attempted my first fight - which confused the heck out of marmalade and between every single godus related window becoming unresponsive saw me loosing the fight - oh and then it crashed.

That all sounds very bizarre. Where was the 15 minute timer? All the timers I encountered on my play-through were about 30-40 seconds. I experienced plenty of crashes but nothing like what you've described.

Saw it with I taskswitched trying to determine what had caused everything to hang/become unresponsive. Timer showed 15:10 or something when I first saw it and incremented by the second. I've no other apps/task running aside from steam when I tried this. I do not believe it was merely a system clock rendering or similar. When I played my godus on this system I was on Win7.x, its now been upgrade to Win10.x.

Thanks for sharing the video, Sense of disgust didn't allow me to install that crap and now I see it was right - the intended audience is clearly about 9 year old with all those bad narrative and amount of blood everywhere.
