Godus is now available on iTunes for new Zealand. toucharcade.com/2014/05/16/godus-soft-launches-in-nz/itunes.apple.com/nz/app/godus/id815181808?mt=8Peter Molyneux "announced" it on Twitter: "The first step of our real journey starts today. Sorry to be so cyptic" Instead of announcing it on twitter with something a bit more neutral like "iOs release today, we reached a milestone" or something similar. So, that basically means that kickstarter and steam as well as almost 2 years of public alpha/beta development wasn't the real journey... Not that I'm surprised about that, I'm just surprised that he posted that on twitter. Attachments:

I think the current state of 22Cans is clear. Peter does whatever the hell he wants. PC version? Throw some community reps at them to try and shut them up and distract them while we figure out this mobile stuff. Did the community reps know that the developers have been hard at work on the mobile version, and have only touched the PC port in recent weeks to do a half-assed attempt at bug-fixing? Probably. Did they tell the community? No, because PM told them not to. Like always.
"With GODUS we want to make a game in a culture of openness, co-operation and honesty." said the Kickstarter. LOL.

Did the community reps know that the developers have been hard at work on the mobile version, and have only touched the PC port in recent weeks to do a half-assed attempt at bug-fixing? Probably. I'm absolutely certain that they've known that. Also, a few day earlier we get promised the roadmap / design documents and just yesterday they couldn't release it because of a few problems. And we got told that only parts of it will be released anyway. Its a possibility that this was just an attempt to calm us down shortly before the iOs release. The fact that they made the iOs release a top secret (P.M. talked about it but still made it a secret) even though it was just a few hours before release anyway further support this. "With GODUS we want to make a game in a culture of openness, co-operation and honesty." said the Kickstarter. LOL. Yea, and it never mentioned free2play and stated that the PC version won't be dumbed down because of the mobile port. They lied about the concept, development and intentions. They made anything important a secret. Its amazing, I've never seen something similar. Thats not plain incompetence which is something that I could forgive - they purposefully lie and hide things for more profit and then ignore us. Thats worse than EA Games and Zynga - combined. After all they never publicly asked for money to develop a bad game or cashcow. Peter Molyneux did the worst things EA games and Zynga ever did. Slaughtering a good name and advertising a game with its ("spiritual") predecessors (kickstarter constantly mentioned populous, black&white and dungeon keeper), creating a mobile F2P / facebook game, ignoring their community and publishing a bugged and overall bad game. And hyping the game. But on top of that they financed it by asking publicly for money and telling lies while ignoring the alpha backers. And all that with just one single game. Its kind of amazing actually.

The fact that they made the iOs release a top secret (P.M. talked about it but still made it a secret) even though it was just a few hours before release anyway further support this. Also other things like Matthew streaming a lets play and george attempting to create a completely unnecessary game council after the board and desktop game was already almost dead. (The game council that should end us being ignored without any explanation how so but the reps at the same time ignored any questions and concerns toward the idea of a game council...) Almost complete silence until about one week before the mobile version got silently released. Then we got some answers, unseen honesty, the reps intending to livestream a gameplay video and after a year we finally got told that the design documents/roadmap was about to be released. It may be a honest try to communicate and I'm just too mistrusting but it seems just as plausible for me to act as a distraction because of the timing.

oh gosh. I don't suppose this now means they will look at the PC game? How sad to say the real journey of Godus is via mobile, when we all only really wanted a good godgame for the PC.

This video is of interest. Particularly the very end. The app asks for a user review after the first temple of expansion is built. Very cleaver.

These reviews already existed the first time I viewed the store page. Not a single additional review has been added in the last 9 hours.
Edit:
They probably took dungeon keeper mobile as inspiration to ask for a review shortly after the beginning where this game seems still quite promising and hasn't revealed its true nature of F2P cashcow.

We should be patient and hope the NZ players are sensible and come to the same conclusions as we did, the only thing is it will take time for someone new to Godus to see what it is all really about
Waiting.
I still love the fact that the tutorial instruction includes "wait for house to be built". That is a good tutorial point.

That video is really interesting, for several reasons:
1. It was interesting to watch someone who was clearly playing for the first time with no knowledge of what was to come. I saw them doing things completely different from what I do in my playthroughs. Some of which I cringed at and was like "you're just wasting time on that." 2. The build looks like 2.0.5, including the glitch of card images randomly disappearing, but I also noticed several bugs from 2.0.3/4. 3. Refreshing to see someone on iOS have the same issues with sculpting that I run into. I've read many times how the sculpting was designed for touch screen and works much better than on the PC, but from what I just saw that really isn't the case.

I do find it odd that such an essential game mechanic still isn't working correctly, what struck me was just how little there was to do even in the first 25min of gameplay.
As for the reviews, if people who have never experienced Godus, and have had no involvement in the kickstarter or early access, I would venture that they would be fairly positive since they are approaching the game with a totally different set of expectations.

"openness, co-operation and honesty." have to admit he did teach a great lesson in how important this is. Not important to him of course.

This was one of the first comments I made upon seeing the signs of touch focus.

And we got told that only parts of it will be released anyway. The roadmap wasn't released because of problems, it wasn't released because I was simply too busy with ther tasks (mostly spreadsheet based) to complete on it last week. It'll be my priority for next week.
