I liked the blog post and I'd like to see more like it. Dynamic water looks interesting (here's hoping for an interesting integration into gameplay), shadows seem like a nice to have and could have been left to later. I think they've packed a lot into this release I just hope they've heard the message and improved the gameplay. If it is more mundanity then the response won't be good.

You know what? No matter how many time they reveal features which look promising, I won't give a crap.
Why? Because I already had a huge share of promises, and was betrayed together with everyone else.
Looking promising is even less than actually promising, and we already know how actual promising ended.

Dynamic water looked promising one year ago, too. It was the time when they showed it in every interview and on every speech possible (short before Early Access release). Looked like it was part of the game at this time. Never seen it in the Early Access build or any build after that. A few people made it possible by modding some files. So as morsealworth said, I won't give a crap until it's a full working feature of the game (and more than eyecandy in a trailer on screenshots).

I don't like: Ignoring a unpleasant question or answering with something that is only loosely related or way to vague to actually answer something. Mods that Cherry-pick in discussions. Banning people for minor offenses.

Looking promising is even less than actually promising, and we already know how actual promising ended. A Screenshot or Video is evidence for the feature to be at least partly implemented and is in my opinion more valuable than just a promise itself. Also there will be another blog update that will detail gameplay changes/additions, the latest blog entry doesn't reveal everything that will be added.

Ah, yes. They already showed dynamic previously, I completely forgot about that. It's from 30.08.2013 and you clearly see rivers... Though I hope they wouldn't show them as preview of the next patch if they don't intend to implement them in the next update...

*still wondering what it'll entail from a gameplay perspective on the long run considering the information currently available*
But hey, worst case scenario we have a $20 screensaver! Yayum...

Buffs for farming is likely, plus activities for Followers (swimming, fishing) and potentially destruction, too.

Interesting... Combined with the settlements mechanic we'd be looking at some degree of versalitity and complexity for the min-maxing of farm produce and potentially happiness I guess?
Which leads to several other questions: 1 - Will we be able to create water ourselves or only use pre-generated sources? 2 - Will we get a way to raise land to construct barriers to stop waterflow? 3 - (longshot) Could this 'technology' be converted/adapted in the future to function as lavaflow from a volcano?

The answer to all of those is "hopefully". I'm sorry, but I'm unaware of any concrete decisions about these things, although they are all under discussion.

I am finally growing the nads to quit my guilds on Setters Online and all their buffs.

If they could not do 3 then any and all hope for the game, for me, is completely gone out the window. It can not be that hard to go in change some numbers and make it flow slower, be red (Or link a different skin) and the hardest part make it cause damage. Heck I would not even care if it does not leave cooled edge walls behind.

This is something I've been keeping quiet about for some time out of embarrassment at my own ignorance, but I'm gonna go ahead now and ask: what in the world is a 'buff'? I only know this word in the context of "he's a computer-buff so he'll be able to answer your IT questions" (for example) so some kind of expert I guess? But I don't think that is what is meant by a 'buff' in Godus. Is this a commonly-known word to everyone else and I've been living under a rock? This happens to me sometimes.

"Buffs" are not a F2P term and as terminology, pre-date the advent of the internet. It's an old D&D term, IIRC. You get buffs in all manner of games, from traditional RPGs to city building games and even FPS games. All it means is a stat boost that's active due to a secondary, user-applied factor (like socketing a ring with a gem in Diablo, or eating steroids in Duke Nukem; just a couple of random examples from off the top of my head).

In that case, can Buffs in Godus be renamed to something a little more immersive? Wielding the Staff of Incendiary Power sounds more fun than wielding the Staff of Stats Boost.

Sure, but most people now equate them to F2p, just like the word "gems" did not originate from F2p but is now equated with it. You guys seem to want to veer from the profile of F2p but yet you keep using terms that are very much linked to the average F2p and sorry. "farming buffs" screams Farmville and regardless of what you say, you know that. I am pretty certain of no matter what the company line is on this, that deep down, it makes you cringe. Yay!, farming buffs, so glad you guys clarified how much you are not a F2p like the FB crap games are.

I don't think we'd ever use the term "buff" or "stats" as is - that's just design jargon. We'd want to use bespoke in-game terminology.

That's good to hear, because if it look like a duck and quacks like a duck, more often than not, it is a duck.

Personally, I've never played FarmVille or the like, however I do play a lot of Diablo, hence my use of the term in this context. I don't think it's fair to extrapolate your experience with term to cover the whole of the community (myself included) and certainly not the design team. Please bear in mind I'm just using a commonly understood term to describe a potential feature - I could have easily said "improved", "boosted", "sped up" or "increased rate of yield" and it would have meant the exact same thing. After all, I wrote that post in my own style, not the design team's.
