So it's nearly 8 months since this thread was started and we're all still none the wiser as to Fabs' parting gift. I find myself wondering if we'll ever get to know what it was? At this point Raspofabs might as well tell us himself.

Well, yeah, I guess it has been 6 months since I left the company, so I don't think I'm under any legal obligation to keep it a secret any more. However, because of what it was, I don't feel like I should tell anyone yet, just in case the combat update has it in it, which would make it a less impressive update. However, I can say, I never did work on combat, so it's not actually related to combat itself.

Can't help but feel though that all this "we're still working hard on the combat update" puffery we've been getting from your old colleagues is going to lead to little more than a massive let down

Maybe I'm just jaded, but that's the expectation precedent they've set themselves up for - time and again. I'm not proud of holding such a doubtful outlook, trust me, but I'm a realist (which often conflicts with the hopeful optimist in me). If they prove that assumption wrong, I'll praise their fine work and appologize for my admited - albeit well founded - cynicism.

I'm still hoping for a random landscape generator.

I'm still hoping for a random landscape generator. It would make sense if that ended up being included in the combat work, since that happens in a separate arena.

I just don't expect them to answer any "Hey, combat, great, when are we getting the rest of the game?" questions unless it's being asked in deadline form by Kotaku/The Guardian, etc. Then again.. there's always This "Molyneux has assured the Guardian, though, that people will be playing a finished version of Godus within nine months." Yeah, 22Cans has approximately 2 weeks to save Mr. Molyneux from being a liar enthusiastic once again.

Well being as the plan for the finished game has changed greatly, I could see it happening. I am sure they have scraped the rest of the ages,I would be really surprised to see any more. My guess is release combat and say there that is what we consider a completed game.

I wouldn't doubt it in the slightest, along with the uproar it will cause, especially with regards to the whole God of Gods scam misunderstanding.

If they were to call the game complete without all the other ages, then you would have a perfect case of false advertising, because the ages were prominently displayed during the launch of the kickstarter, so that would need to be one of the deliverables. however apart from just some 2D art there exists no evidence that development of this significant part of the game was ever even started.

If they do do farther ages I do not expect much beyond new skins and more cards that have just been re-skinned from the original. Instead of mine ore card it is now a mine steel card, then mine meteor iron, ext.

If the history of this game's development and 22cans past actions are an accurate gauge of what to expect, and if they push out an update, what will likely happen is; Update is pushed out. Its buggy and underwhelming. Users begin feeding back info. 22cans says they're going into holiday. Chaos engulfs the community. We hear nothing until February. 22cans acts innocent and surprised at response & reception;. Devs say they need time to recover from holiday & review support tickets. Media backlash in March. 22cans gets simultaneously defensive and apologetic. Promises ensue. Nothing happens all summer. Fast forward to November. Rinse & repeat.

That is a surprisingly accurate and succinct description of the goings on so far.

Thanks. It's not exactly 100% accurate, but close enough to make the point.
