Okay, well, it's been a year. If it's not out already (and I can't even tell because for some reason, my version of Godus for desktop on steam has vanished from my account), it was a desktop only feature.
You all know how I felt about the free to play stuff that went into the desktop version? Well, that was my secret project. I spent a few weeks taking it all out. No more gems anywhere, just normal resources and mana. It wasn't even that big a thing, because the next step was what I was hoping to release, and that would have been the addition of new resources (you know, like a desktop sim normally has) such as wood gathering, stone mining etc. I only got as far as removing all the traces of gems from the game in that branch. If there are still gems in the desktop version, then this secret project is no more.
I hope that Godus wars plays well, and that Godus gets to be as good as it should be. What are people playing while they're waiting for that? I've become hooked on Factorio very recently.

Factorio! We've been playing it non stop with a group of people who set up a headless server at the university here. So addicting it's silly. Looking forward to the June update!

You mean to say that all it was was the removal of gems...
...and that was something that no one was allowed to ever mention?
Thanks for finally telling us Fabs. Good project. I think they kept it. Haven't heard anybody mention gems in Godus Wars. Then again, haven't heard people mention Godus Wars much.
I haven't been playing much of anything, but when I do play I usually play something old.

I have to say, after all this time, it's a little disappointing. Not because the "secret project" isn't exactly what I would have hoped for – it is – but because 22cans completely dropped the ball on it, abandoned Godus, and we'll never get to see the resource system that it laid the groundwork for.

I'm going to view your special project as adding a new resource system. If that is the case then it's just another thing 22Cans forgot about.

I think your stripped-down version of the game may be the foundation for Godus Wars, which has no trace of gems anywhere (and in fact plays a lot like Godus 1.3). It also has auto-collect of belief so the FTP clicking element is gone.
Unfortunately, with the exception of mana, there is no resource system at all in Godus Wars. Mana is spent sculpting high land and casting God powers. Houses and people turn up from nowhere and require nothing to sustain them. The central building of your settlement is a citadel, which can churn out infinite troops/siege weapons even if your entire city has otherwise been destroyed. It plays kind of like a combat prototype right now.

Yeah...They sorted that out with Godus Wars, never bothered to implement it for Godus, and dropped the ball on any design ideas for implementing a proper resource system. In the meantime, I've been diving in and out of old games like Lord Ba'al , some really old and then some more recent. Last new game I dabbled with was the FFXV Platinum Demo and The Witness, the latter of which has stumped me in a variety of places.

Besides jumping back and forth between Xcom2 and Elite Dangerous, I've pretty much filled up most of my free time with the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. It's a great family pastime and I've started involving us in the Society and playing at a few locations around town. If you haven't tried it, I warn you, buying a starting box is fairly cheap and you'll easily get addicted and start buying the adventure packs, character addons, and class packs. There are 3 full game campaigns out, monthly class pack releases, and another campaign box coming soon (likely this fall).

Over the last couple of years we've collected all 3 base sets and the full complement of adventures, characters and classes. We have a few on-going games right now: my husband and I are playing through Rise of the Runelords in a two-character game, we're replaying Skulls and Shackles with a friend with two characters each (6 in total so need a completely different strategy from a 2-character game) and we've made a decent start on Wrath of the Righteous with a different friend. We've found Wrath of the Righteous signficantly harder than the other two sets. I think it's a lot more balanced with regard to the different skills it forces you to use, instead of relying so heavily on combat. We've just reached a point where our characters are sufficiently levelled-up that we're winning most scenarios on the first attempt, though it's always close. What characters have you enjoyed using? I've got a few favourites, and a few I've attempted to play with and found really dull and ineffective. (Hope nobody minds a bit of a thread derail at this point!)

I'm one session away from finishing Pandemic Legacy (which is FANTASTIC), and then planning on starting up a Pathfinder Adventure Card Game campaign. I've thus far only played a couple test sessions, every time as one of the wizard guy's classes.

I've thus far only played a couple test sessions, every time as one of the wizard guy's classes. We're also working through Pandemic Legacy! It can be a bit tricky to get the group together for that one, we've got 4 players but one has small kids so isn't always able to commit. We're up to May or June I think and really enjoying it. We've got to a point where we need to make an important strategic decision about which characters to choose for the next round. My character (the dispatcher) has been invaluable but has two scars. We're thinking of changing our complement of characters to better reflect some of the bonuses we've got that allow us to trade cards more easily and develop a cure with fewer cards. In our two-player Rise of the Runelords game, I'm currently playing as Seoni (Sorcerer, class deck I think) and really loving the character. In Skulls and Shackles I've got Ameri (from the Barbarian class desk) and Lyni (from the Druid class deck). In Wratch of the Righteous I've got Imrijka (Inquisitor). Loving all of these. The characters I've tried that have fallen a bit flat have tended to be from the class decks.

I just started playing Dark Souls 2 again as I've never finished it before, so I could prepare for DS3. I'm starting to realise that I don't actually enjoy playing Souls games, but I can't get myself to stop.

Bloodborne was semi-interesting to watch, but I don't enjoy playing games like that, regardless of how "rewarding" they feel. We just finished up The Division as a couple but the Darkzone (endgame pvp) is a tad more repetitive than we were expecting. Looking forward to reporting about the Vive soon and definitely No Man's Sky.

The family just joined the Pathfinder Society and we're hip deep in new stuff. The new Oracle pack is crazy. All of them are powerful and Grazzle is the best healer they've created. Once he gets his Role, he becomes even more scary. None of us have particular favorites since we're playing all over the place. I like Harsk, but tend to play healer, focusing on all versions of Kyra (well, until we got Grazzle). The Alchemist deck will arrive this week, so who knows what I'll be playing in a few days.

We're such addicts we opted for the class deck subscription. It comes out to the same price we'd pay in a store, but arrives on our doorstep.
