When did we say that there would be an update last week? Um.. we've not announced a date for anything yet? Well, naturally, you haven't stated any specific dates, however you've been hinting and teasing for over a month that an update was imminent. Albeit, extremely vague about any potential timeframe, but still enough to seem like it was within a few weeks. I do swear there was at least one post - either from you or one of your crew - that did say an update was likely to be pushed out within a week or two, but I can't locate it any longer (seems to happen too often.) Not sure if I have shoddy memory, or something else is going on. I really should screenshot everything... So, until I can find the specific "next week" post, these will have to suffice; Here are a few posts that at least made it appear there was an update approaching "soon": godus.boards.net/post/24335/threadgodus.boards.net/post/24267/threadgodus.boards.net/post/24215/thread - "We'll have a full post on Kickstarter regarding combat in the coming weeks!" ~ Colin, Oct 9, 2015 at 11:27am godus.boards.net/post/24182/thread - "...there's full studio playthrough this week that if successful will determine the Opt-In date - After a successful playthrough, bug squashing and minor polish will be the main priority in order to get it in to players hands to try out." ~ Colin, Oct 6, 2015 at 10:37am EXIT: Oh, right... then there was also this; So, uh, officially dead yet? "It's not dead. A big update is coming soon actually" ~ Aynen Moderator Oct 26 @ 2:41pm Maybe I have a different understanding, or impression, from you as to the meaning of "soon", but this routine is growing seriously tiresome. I don't really enjoy chasing this stuff down, and using your own words against you (trying not to twist them, honestly), but as a backer I feel its our duty to keep tabs on th7s stuff. I do apologize that I may be putting a slanted interpretation on your posts, its not my desire, nor intention. Sadly, we've become a bit of a jaded, tinfoil hat wielding lot and this is what we're reduced to. But, hey, I'm happy people are finally getting the art book - for an unfinished game - so at least that's something. Hey, don't forget the making-of documentary! According to Jack, this was provided to 22Cans months ago in a near-complete condition. So near-completed that he projected it would be a matter of weeks before it was released. No sign of this. Will it ever be released? Would anyone put money on that? I mean 22Cans did. They paid Jack money to film it. On company time, he edited it. But you know what, are they ever going to release it? Any response from YOU, Colin Gallacher of 22Cans? You are the PR guy so I'm sure you will have to have the perfectly reasonable explanation for why this video, near-completed months ago and with just the smallest fine-tuning required, has not yet hit Youtube.

If they did release the making-of documentary when they said they would, or now, they'd still release no end of hell for it. Because honestly, a making-of documentary for a project that's nowhere near even halfway done? That's crazy. Call what they have completed "part 1" and wait until Godus is officially done (or officially abandoned) before finishing the documentary. ... that would make sense. But who knows? All we have to go on is silence.

There was also a comment in one of the update threads (I think) saying that combat should be released by "late summer", if memory serves. I never had November down as summer, at least not in the northern hemisphere, where 22cans is based.

All we have to go on is silence. Jack was the person responsible for filming and editing the documentary. He's no longer there, and I doubt anyone has taken up the mantle since then, so no more documentary material is going to be produced. They may as well release what they've got - except of course that you are correct; it will not do them any favours. It's a shame that talented people have spent a lot of time (which translates to 22Cans' money, which means KS funds/EA sales proceeds) on projects like this which then get written off because 22Cans can't handle them. I'm also thinking of "fabs secret project" here. Regarding timelines for the combat update, here's an interesting post from Colin: godus.boards.net/post/22456"We're currently working on Combat, an early build will be available on our Steam Opt-In testing channel when we feel that it is ready (It won't be too long now). This won't be a complete build - It will be buggy, it might be a little broken, there will be a way of offering feedback that will be looked at, listened to and assessed - I'll be one of the people in charge of collecting feedback and working with the production team to make sure that the important things that are brought up are worked on, fixed, tweaked, etc.. Community feedback will be incredibly important to the release of our combat." - Colin, 28th July 2015 Did this buggy, incomplete combat opt-in for the purpose of gathering incredibly important community feedback ever happen? I have not played Godus in some time as I am waiting for it to come out of Early Access.

This is also probably worth dusting off: Godus roadmap, circa May 2014To pick out a few fun items from this: - A commitment to release an opt-in every week, and a main branch release every month - Hubworld to be implemented in Summer 2014 - Commandments to be implemented Summer 2014 - "Cross-platform implementation will come later (no ETA as yet) and allow trading between players of Godus, regardless of their platform of choice." How did they get it so horribly and hilariously wrong? The entire thing is complete fiction, with the exception of a few poorly-conceived and unwanted contrivances that leant themselves to the mobile release (e.g. happiness levels). Take the opt-in commitment, for example. I remember when this was later revised to every 2 weeks, which made sense because of the work involved in getting the builds ready for the opt-in. But was this logistical challenge not even a little bit foreseeable? It's as though the roadmap was single-handedly written by someone whose only task was to "write a roadmap" with no basis in reality, no communication with anyone else in the studio, not even the most basic understanding of what might actually be feasible.

To be fair, Summer never really happened in the UK this year. Haha, true! Although, I was wandering around Betws-y-coed on Saturday in shorts and flop-flips, so maybe there is something to this November being "late summer" malarkey.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if 22Cans decided that this summer "didn't count". They've attempted to garner public support for stranger redefinitions of well understood terms before. Take for instance, the word "Indy". Huehuehue

Are we going to get a new one? I thought the provision of a Community Manager was one of 22Cans' efforts to respond to the first media furore, when they were heavily criticised for their lack of engagement with backers and customers. Not that it makes much difference whether we have one or not, given the last one stopped actually dealing with the community quite some time ago.

How about we look for a volunteer godus community manager? Or we could take turns. See what it feels like to fill those shoes. Get bitched at for a week while defending the indefendable and then bitch at someone else the next week. I could create a special forum title for the occasion.

Does anyone remember when the last game and opt in updates were (date)? It's pretty sad when you have to go digging for this, but I decided to and if I'm not mistaken, I think this may be the last opt-in update, and I think this may be the last core game update, amusingly or disappointingly enough. Also, not sure if this addresses 13thGeneral's point elsewhere, but I think this might be what he was recalling about seeing a combat update "next week". I can't honestly recall if there actually was an update the week after that announcement (May was sketchy with Friday updates, having only the 15th Pavle departure announcement), but I don't think there was. Plus, if my Steam activity with Godus is any indication, last time I bothered to load up the game coincides with that last opt-in update, especially since Spiderweb's alternate mode experiments had kinda petered out (lol) by then.

If I said "22Cans have made no substantial change to GODUS since this time last year" is that accurate? I can't remember if they did anything major just before Christmas last year. I remember some modding tools and then big The Trail announcement.
