Simon has been dealt a shitty hand, I hope he can do something good with it. We'll I hate to be pessimistic but by now I think we should all be expecting to have that very hand rubbed in our faces perhaps. The logical move is to spacebase godus and a new CEO is the perfect time to do it. Time will tell whether they take this road or the road to redemption.

Without checking the latest with the production guys, I think the new combat will start to ship to opt in later in the summer for feedback. There is design happening as to how we can make it more of a feature in its own right, but I understand your concerns about the potential of it not having impact on the main game flow. Lets see how it stands a bit further down the line. the last we heart about this from 22cans was that it was gonna be completly finished in april...its now june and your saying its gonna be on opt in in late summer...have you strated on the multiplayer yet or is that summer 2017?

Part of the problem with adding combat to Godus as it currently exists is that it has no impact. The underlying functionality of the game makes combat nothing more than an empty time occupier. Its biggest impact is to keep a player busy rather than add strategy to the game. The worst case scenario if a player fails to engage in combat is for the game to come to a standstill. There is no loss condition to build off of from the basest level. Any attempts to discuss this have been ignored or avoided. It's a cracked foundation to build upon. The problem with this statement is that it means there's nothing coming for at least a couple more months. This whole project has been a series of "wait for it" statements, followed by a disappointing reveal. The optimistic members of this forum have been waiting for justification of that optimism for 6 months now. The rest of us are looking for something to prove our view of things as wrong. All your statement does is confirm our speculations and predictions for this project. Unless something radically shifts in the basic framework for Godus, the combat release is going to resemble little more than a tower defense mechanic. A god's units have three purposes with how the game runs: 1. They defend structures from Astari. 2. They conquer new territory by clearing out Astari from the area. 3. They suck up resources to keep a player busy. Looking at these three with how Godus is designed, this adds little to the overall game. There's no "defense" needed. The Astari can't actually destroy structures. All they can do is bog down a player's progression by killing/converting followers that exit their homes. For conquering new territory, it exists as little more than a roadblock clearing mechanic (like the comet) since it's just a matter of waiting for enough forces to steamroll the Astari. None of this is "fun" by any stretch of the imagination. It's like playing a fps in god mode. Winning is more a matter of stamina rather than skill.

Let me guess, Combat will also require an insane amount of clicking for anything to progress as per the rest of the game's design?

Last time I played those astari fucks did destroy a fair amount of my structures when I wasn't paying attention. Yeah, those Astari raids are annoying as f#@k - when I last tried playing (uh, January maybe?) they wipe out 90% of my structures before I even had the ability to defend against them. So, perhaps earlparvisjam forgot, or hadn't played for a while, or it's changed since then? It was certainly extremely flawed and imbalanced, and immediately turned me back off of playing, after having not played for a few months as it was; seems each new feature has had that effect.

It's been a while. I forgot that they could knock you back down to starter guys.
