So, when does everyone realize that this is a hoax post?

Not a question about what's been said, more a musing... Does anyone else not think "The Emerald Profit" would have been a more apt username choice? (Not that's there anything wrong with what you chose)

It could be a hoax. Either 22Cans confirms/denies it, or we wait for the actual combat update to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if neither was forthcoming.
In the meantime, it looks plausible to me and I'm not going to feel like an idiot if it turns out to be a load of weird lies.

Exactly, if it's BS or if it is true but never comes to fruition who cares. It's not like we expect anything.

Don't people usually sign some papers or something to not share pre-release details?

Don't people usually sign some papers or something to not share pre-release details? Yeah but what are they going to do about it? I'm sure he's smart enough to only have reported details a reasonably wide group of people know so as to prevent him being easily identified as the leaker.

Or it's entirely possible this "leak" was manufactured by a certain young adult novel enthusiast at 22cans as some kind of shallow mea culpa for utterly failing at missing their release date, and game development in general. Passive leaks are, after all, all the rage these days.

Don't people usually sign some papers or something to not share pre-release details? There's a distinct possibility Emerald Prophet signed an NDA, hence posting anonymously. If I were 22Cans, I would keep my mealy mouth shut on the subject of betraying trust.

So colin22cans and simon22cans, does the Godus War setup described in Emerald Prophet's posts sound familiar to you, or is this some next-level leg-pulling?

Colin and Simon have both been online today but have chosen not to respond to this. You'd think if it was false they'd feel inclined to intervene.
Emerald Prophet, in whatever capacity you got to see the War update, did you get to meet and speak to members of the 22Cans team? If so, did the topic of community relations ever come up? For example, why they've chosen not to share any of this, why they'd decided not to replace the CM, why the dev updates have stopped?

Well, now we know where the "leak" came from, at least. I guess official updates will raise too many questions at this point, so this is the next best thing for the time being.

I'm not sure we can read so much into it. Possibly this is an engineered 'leak', but if it isn't, I wouldn't necessarily expect anyone from 22Cans to pipe up and confirm the information is true. If they do that they're only going to invite further questions and feedback, which they obviously do not want - at least not from us.

Its obvious that the community management and public relations stance is STFU about everything and don't give the trolls (customers) anything to talk about, they will get bored and go away.
The complete lack of engagement by anyone actually from 22cans on any front at all lays somewhere between amusing and appalling.
Simon@22cans last post was Nov3 Colin@22cans last post was Nov9
That's basically a month for both of them, and yet we know their computers log into the forums to read whats going on. They are just counting down the days to vacation and the next GFYS.

When Colin first arrived, he kept inventing excuses for his perpetual absences from the forum. Now there's just silence.

I'd been hoping that maybe 22Cans were just taking a day or two to put together a response to this. No idea where I got that kind of optimism from.
Assuming Emerald Prophet's post is true, and also assuming he saw this game content very recently, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing the War update any time soon. It sounds a like a prototype a long way from being ready for release, given that 22Cans have as good as abandoned the opt-ins.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the claim that this prototype was in Unity? What are the technical implications of this? Could this mean they've ported the whole PC build from Marmalade to Unity, or could it be the case that they develop in Unity then port to Marmalade for compatibility reasons...? The latter sounds incredibly inefficient, but if it was the former you'd think they might have said something about it (fabs secret project?).

I believe that when he first arrived he may have felt that a turn around of the company could be achieved fairly quickly, and only with having spent some time there has he come to understand that change will actually be slow, and difficult, results will be few and far between for a long time to come. Maybe thats why he doesn't want to say anything more until they actually have something to show. If it is true though that they are moving over to unity, then that is a significant change ( for the better) which I can not fathom why they would not want to share that with the community.
