Is it really ok to reset the mobile version when there are significant new updates? Haven't people already paid money for various progressions in the game? Everyone who has purchased Gems in the mobile version of Godus so far will get a full refund plus an additional bunch of bonus Gems to make up for it. This question had been brought up a couple of times before but never received a reply. I'm curious, when was this decision made?

Mobile Godus operates on a "time is money" basis (hence paying to speed up progress) so I'm not sure refunding gems will make users happy about the reset. Users have to carefully balance their willingness to wait patiently with their desire to speed up the game with pay-for gems. Refunding the gems won't give them back the hours/days/weeks they spent between transactions to build their civilisations.

This question had been brought up a couple of times before but never received a reply. I'm curious, when was this decision made? Tuesday 1st July, to the best of my knowledge. We have an in-game notification alerting people. Tbh, forcing a restart is not uncommon when a mobile game moves from limited launch to worldwide release.

Lol they reset progress on mobile. Plus the starting area looks completely different so I guess expect reset on PC unless George says otherwise. Yes, you can expect a reset. For me, the biggest change is that Godus feels more like a game now, rather than a prototype. Does it feel like a truly great PC game though? Not yet, or at least not IMHO. But we'll get there and we won't stop iterating until we do. You know, this in and of itself should neither be a problem nor surprising - assuming it is done in the manner I suspect. Which would be that they'll take the pieces they have tested and developed so far and put them together into a proper whole. Rather than having poorly shaped pieces held together with ducttape and glue. Having a new map (if done well) is actually a good thing in my book - but that said I'm still hoping for some for of procedural generation or similar method rather than a handcrafted map that is identical for every single homeworld. With the idea that each player should be "unique" based on decisions they make, having unique circumstances under which your civilization starts would only add to that diversity. (Really... look into getting this, it'd make the game so much better!) Less "you're following in the footsteps laid out before you by some previous god/civilization" and more "you are conquering this vast and untamed world and making *YOUR* mark on it"

The previous world isn't exactly the first version we have had. They will have learnt things from their various map designs about how they want it to work. If you remember the early map, it was very much you got to the mainland and spread out in all directions at once. The current map is far more linear, you spread out a single chunk of the Island at a time in essentially a straight line. I'm guessing the new map will move towards a combination of those, with a linear starting area to introduce the player and then a more open expansion at later times.

I muched preferred the open expansion model. In all honesty this map we've had for the past couple of months sucks balls. It's like being forced into a straightjacket.

Familiarity breeds contempt. Interestingly enough, so do deceit and secrecy...

I read that as "deceit and sorcery" and immediately chuckled so much that I managed to spill my tea on my toast. So now I have soggy toast thanks to that comment

Well yes, I'd imagine that sorcery and soggy toast also breed contempt... But I'm not sure we can blame that on the cans. =P

If and when I decide to start up a company and try to sell something to people. I'll be sure to be open and honest about my business practices. At which point I will also be sure to fullfill any promises or agreements I will enter into with my customers, backers and supporters to the best of my abilities aswell as maintaining communications throughout the duration that is required to fullfill said agreements. Untill such a time that I'm going to be compensated for it, I see no reason to value your contempt. So be my guest.
