You're making it sound like 22cans is some secluded colony or community that has no idea what is happening in the outside world.

Ok. It came across as more snide than funny, is all. Sorry Feanix! No worries - never easy with tone when you only have written text on a screen to go on

What George basically means, but doesn't want to say because he is required to be diplomatic, is that we (the non-22cans posters on this forum) have a habbit of picking up on any tiny thing that could be construed as bad and blowing it up out of proportion. So instead of reading what Pieter says as a joke, people started taking it seriously and bringing it back to unfulfilled godus promises, which was never Pieters intention at all.

I honestly didn't think it was a joke.
Edit: Which I guess is your point, though I do think he misjudged the comment.

The contempt is growing by the minute.. Oh come on, he was just trying to be funny... please give Pieter a break, he's new to the forums and isn't intimately aware our ebb and flow. Damn. *Puts away the torches, pitchforks and wet noddles.* I was really hoping to get to use the noddles too.

Wouldn't that be convenient, just make people forget and start from a clean slate as if nothing ever happened. Suffice it to say - no, I'm not laughing.

So I picked up the mobile version out of curiosity... and right on queue, as soon as the gem shop is available you get hit with much longer timers. Looks like the whalefarm is right on schedule. You boys have fun with your mobile version... bleh

Please direct any vitriol towards me, not Pieter. It is, always has and always will be directed at 22cans - as they are the ones that are selling a product and making promises about it. As you said yourself George, you're merely the messenger. The same goes for other 22cans employees... So please don't take anything I say personally, it isn't intended as such (even if it might sound that way by the way I type).

You boys have fun with your mobile version... bleh I can't download the mobile version on my phone because I'm running the wrong version of iOS. Does it give you plenty of other stuff to do while waiting for timers? This seems to be the crux of the never-before-seen monetisation we've been told about.

Yeah, I'd second this, barring that one time I called all the CMs and mods giant hypocrites for certain forum favoritism. Outisde of that, though, nothing personal! Whenever we finally hear what 'reasons' actually are, and the most probable vitriolic reaction to said 'reasons' that follows, my impression is (and perhaps I'm off-base) said 'reasons' aren't exactly something George is all too excited about.

Unfortunately I have such a bad taste in my mouth from wading through the timers on PC that I just stopped playing without even checking to see if there was actually anything else to do besides wait for the timers to finish. There certainly weren't any "tutorial prompts" directing my attention anywhere else while the first 10 minute timers i encountered were finishing .. Maybe someone with a constitution greater than my own will step up and give you that answer, but I think I've just about had it with artificial pay walls for now. EDIT: I thought this quote from PM himself was ironic. "I was intrigued about analytics, and we had some talks with some monetisation guys and they were horrified 'you've got to get your currency introduced in the first five seconds of gameplay, otherwise your retention rate will go down'. The only time I think you should take a player to a shop that quickly in a game I think is if your game is about shopping. [Laughs]." -PM-

A kind friend of mine has alerted me to the lemmings-mini-game that will keep me busy during my zen-like timer wait. nothing new here (maybe?).

Hmm. I'm half tempted to download the iOS update I've been putting off just so I can try it, but really, I don't want to prejudice myself against the PC version. I'm sure it would only make me notice the paywalls etc.

So instead of reading what Pieter says as a joke, people started taking it seriously and bringing it back to unfulfilled godus promises, which was never Pieters intention at all. For the record, I did read it as a joke. Kudos for me! I recognized that it was 'intended' as a joke - however, I'm not laughing... (Perhaps I don't have a very flexible sense of humor?) So my response was equal parts joke equal parts fact, which is to say that I'm not just going to let 22cans off that easy. Even when they've having a bit of a good day in their release of the iOS version. However that is just my perspective on things, I guess I'm just not that forgiving when it comes to not following through on agreements? That said, I often come over a lot harsher than I intend to sound... Especially in text, so that does complicate matters.
