It actually took quite a while for people to notice Godus Wars in the Steam database. Do I sense a hint of pride in that statement? But rest assured, the game is still being worked on as normal. That's not very reassuring.

That's not very reassuring. Surely "abnormal" development would be an improvement for 22Cans. I'm still hoping that one day they will wake up and decide to produce an actual plan of what they are going to do.

<snip> But rest assured, the game is still being worked on as normal. Good thing we have years of experience on exactly what "normal" means to 22cans, otherwise I wouldn't have any reason to trust this statement whatsoever.

I haven't been asked anything like to keep things quiet. It was never up to the mods anyway when to give out new information about what's in development. That kind of decision involves people much higher up the chain than I. Since you're not being asked to keep quiet, and they're not talking to us, why don't you tell us what's going on. Or at the very least ask for permission to tell us what's going on.

It actually took quite a while for people to notice Godus Wars in the Steam database. Maybe so, Aynen, but don't you think it's a shame that it had to be belatedly 'noticed', rather than it being actively promoted to a community who are highly interested in its development?

It's rather annoying (I was going to say infuriating but I don't care enough anymore) that we would have to try and do our own investigations into godus rather than actually (shock horror!) be told about godus wars apart from vague "oh something is happening..". Some slightly concrete news would actually be good. Has collin been fired yet or is the PR department still on holidays? Aynen you should try and become their webmaster. It seems like a cushy job! Who says Aynen isn't? At this point, it wouldn't be surprising if Santa Claus was listed in that position. They might as well declare the Easter Bunny as the new CM while they're at it. Regardless of what Godus Wars is when it finally rises to the surface from the depths of whatever development abyss it's been festering in, people aren't going to take it very kindly. If it's decent, people will be angry they were left in the dark for no reason. If it's crappy, they'll be angry that it's another crappy addition to the long list of crappy updates. We're actually sitting on a longer silence now than any previous blackout in this project's history. I'm just wondering who's going to be blamed this time. If it's coming on mobile, they might try another Apple NDA excuse since it's a new title. or, more likely, they've come up with a new scapegoat/half baked excuse. It still amazes me how long George and company allowed themselves to be convinced to spout all those rationalizations and non-excuses. Maybe the silence is due to them not being able to find anyone willing to say whatever lame rationale they've concocted this time around. I mean, really, the reason not to tell the community of a SEA (and Kickstarter) project about anything for months is because of an iPhone restriction? Someone should have won an award for successfully driving that whole narrative down the public's throats. Edit: Oh, and militairensneuvelen, I sat and watched those animations for a good 10 minutes. That right there gave me a good smile and put me in the right mood to kick off my weekend.

The Cans are back in the office. (well, not at this hour, but you get what I mean) I haven't been asked anything like to keep things quiet. It was never up to the mods anyway when to give out new information about what's in development. That kind of decision involves people much higher up the chain than I. But rest assured, the game is still being worked on as normal. So what you are saying Aynen is that they are going fuck all towards Godus and only working on Peters new project .... as is normal. 22Cans working on Godus "as normal" is NOT good news. Normal is 22Cans making a cow click peice of shit and ignoring the people that made the game possible. We do not want to hear 22Cans is working on Godus "as normal" we want abnormal then maybe there is a snowballs chance in hell that some positive progress my happen for once!!!

I think we need as an audience need to move on past using Aynen as a punching bag - literally everyone involved in following Godus knows exactly what happened, what went wrong and what type of a game was made under false pretense. The point Aynen was making that it's being worked on in whatever capacity is defined as normal by 22Cans - whatever sprouts out the other side of that normal development cycle is basically on 22Cans.
It's a bit shit for guests to rock up and take drive-by swings at him over 22Cans. And Aynen and I have had really bad interactions in the past on the Steam forums, but I respect his level of involvement here when 22Cans has f-ed off from every platform of community management they previously had.

I don't see much to be accomplished by offering the soft soap to Aynen for playing his own part in this whole thing, despite whatever he might offer in details contrary to 22cans' lethargic approach to PR in ways that could be rivaled by two kids in a campus closet. That is, after all, part of his antagonism game played upon Steam. As much as people might claim witch-hunt over Aynen whenever he receives just due for playing his part in 22cans' game, he's done far worse for much longer on Steam as part of 22cans' public narrative - it is exactly why many of us are here. I have seen his posts about design, and know that he's not some simp being led about; he knows what he has been doing.

Regardless of him knowing what he is doing, we recognize that he was never paid nor privy to 22Cans actions before we were. If anything, there isn't much more or less he can really do. I've even seen him defending critics against trolls on the forum.
I'd caution in thinking that we have anything to gain by trying to 'punish' an unpaid community moderator who's been more diligent in communicating with the most (rightfully) hostile game community for a dead game to date. Godus is dead, in ideal, and the only thing coming out is an appeasement of the best that whatever development team is left to pick up the piece (and frankly, developer empathy can fuck off, that bed was made long before we gave our money).
22Cans lack of communication has no bearing nor impact on our perception of Aynen. He has no just due, he paid money like you for a mobile cow clicker. There is nothing to gain from attacking him other than a temporary feel good for abusing a volunteer stranger on the internet. If anything, the more I see these posts, the more I understand why he'd have a human reaction in antagonizing people on the Steam forum (because wouldn't you?).
My opinion is not a popular one but I'm happy to stick with it, abusing anyone over a game that has been long dead is only going to just shit on my mood anyway.

For example, just now, we have something completely bonkers from the 22cans Department of Deniability: steamcommunity.com/app/232810/discussions/0/523897204945387667/#c458605613412662107What part of no updates since Sept 11 and having a public narrative that is now apparently completely at odds with 22cans' operation even remotely suggests something close to being contrary to "go away", Aynen[/u]? The first act of a sane CM/PR manager would be to sack the liability.

Regardless of him knowing what he is doing, we recognize that he was never paid nor privy to 22Cans actions before we were. According to his bullshit quips and claims about 22cans that are at odds with the public narrative, he's in the know. Two words: Fragglerock Ampersand Someone admits to trolling, given a one-day ban. Someone calls another a troll, permabanned and libeled as "bullying". I've seen Aynen do this to quite a few others, have explicitly documented evidence about this. If you have evidence of him doing as you claim, then you probably found the exception and not the rule. If he's going to be complicit and accessory then he can be known as associate, not be excused for deniable agent antagonism to support a silencing campaign by 22cans. Nobody's making Aynen say the claims that he has*. Only person to credit that for would be Aynen. If only 22cans had tried to be honest in any way, on any level, since The Shit. After they blamed the community for Konrad's honesty (care to guess whom made that accusation?) then they've pretty much been pissing it away with Aynen right there quite often leading the charge. * - Actually, he's been working under the purview of PM himself since a meeting much earlier in the year around when the new CEO and smokescreen showed up.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a certain 22cans Steam mod is nowhere near as much a fanboy as he proports himself to be anymore. I think it is just an overblown amount of undeserved loyalty to 22cans that fuels his continued towing of non-paying company line. This and as they say, even bad publicity is better than none. The more you continue to beat the whipping boy of 222cans, they more you keep it on everyone's mind.

I have simply made him miserable and cooperated with criminals for the sake of... err... personal experience and amusement?" Yep, totally forgivable and endorsable behaviour.

Regardless of him knowing what he is doing, we recognize that he was never paid nor privy to 22Cans actions before we were. I have to wonder how true this statement is today. Anyone can see that this thing has been going to shit from almost the very beginning and it's getting worse every year. Aynen obviously doesn't identify himself as part of the community that got screwed over. This must be bigger for him. He must gain something from this or else he'd stop defending 22Cans and stop partaking in this scam. He might be perceived as a free punching bag for the community by some people, but 22Cans put him there by removing actual PR officers. He can also defend himself because the isn't paid (or so he said) and is "one of us". I guess 22Cans way of thinking is: Maybe we can buy a bit more time if they (the community) get thrown a PR bone once in a while and hopefully they wont chew up one of their own. But like it or not, Aynen's currently their only representative here. Sure it seems it's his choice to interact with us on their behalf, but everything he says is pretty useless to the community. There's no content in his "insider" messages since it's standard PR talk. Thanks for the effort I guess, but what's the point? It may look like some are picking on Aynen, but anyone, newbie or veteran, who'd be making statements similarly to him would be met with counterarguments. Aynen is just unlucky enough to have some "unfortunate" history with this community and we can usually bring it up in our posts. I guess you could argue that you want this to be a nicer place than the Steam forums, but for some this is the only place they can still voice their opinions, since Dave, Aynen and co. took away their voices there. Let's not pretend that this hasn't happened. Maybe we're really beating on a dead horse, but what's the alternative? Should we thank them for non-information like "they are working on the game as per usual"? Should we just ignore their messenger? Maybe we should just fulfil 22Cans wishes and leave this place while forgetting we got scammed?

I can't help but feel that 22Cans is more than happy to let us keep swinging at someone other than them. Aynen, despite his actions or reasoning , is likely as much a victim as we are; just from a different perspective.

Whether Aynen is a victim or not seems pointless. He's really a non-issue if you ignore his aweful s@&$-modding/posting on the Steam forums. I just think it's a shame this community hasn't banded together by now and stuck 22cans toes in the fire like the Elite: Dangerous community did when that studio lied their arses off.
