Yeah it's bollocks and if the CMs had any brains they'd reign him in. It just inflames people when Muir's out there being a keener and doing his one sided and unnecessary moderation. I'll probably go on tonight and create a negative only thread just to prove my point. If we create a firestorm every time they censor the discussion they'll learn eventually.

I had a bit of fun in that thread because of him. He did behave like an A class troll.

Same held true on the 22can forums too. I was warned about a year ago when some other backer quoted me and inserted additional words to the quote - we both got reprimanded and I'd done nothing. The actual content in that case we very very mild/jokey, which apparently unless emoticons are used means it is taken very seriously...

I would say open a support ticket, but I've been waiting three weeks (!) just for a response on how to search for a mod for a forum.

Back in the day it was Sam to whom you had to report mods. So presumably community guy now.
In terms of your support ticket piece, old school it took forever then no response and then a push to close it before they'd done anything i.e. it was so long ago they think they fixed it can you check. I did get a near immediate response this morning when I raised one for the water flow piece when 'Gem' moved my feature item to the bugs list - admittedly now they want my prf etc which I've not got to hand but that's a better response than at the 1.3 level.

Ah you're right, they have answered I just didn't see the unread notification in my inbox.
I also doubt GK would do anything about muir as he probably sees him as his only means of fending off the angry hordes
Speaking of angry (the steam forum user): Is there a vendetta against him? I've now seen two seperate posts directly mentioning him for breaking rules and having a bad attitude. I wouldn't question it if it had just been muir citing rules, but GK also stated that he had to mention no snarky or sarcastic comments specifically because of angry.
At best it seems like they have a list of problem community members (which should never be mentioned to the community), at worst they are picking members of their community for censorship.

Just to chime in on this real quick, Muir usually runs most things by George or myself before doing anything like bans and so forth, though he does have some leeway when it comes to locking threads and such as it's just not sensible to have a conversation about every tiny bit of moderating that needs to go on throughout the day. That said, if you guys have some concerns on the moderating side of things feel free to drop me a line at any time or voice them here (though I usually prefer feedback to a team member about another team member to be kept in a private message just out of respect, but that's up to you).

So, Muir being perceived as a public relations disaster should actually be a reflection of you two? Interesting.

I don't like: Ignoring a unpleasant question or answering with something that is only loosely related or way to vague to actually answer something. Mods that Cherry-pick in discussions. Banning people for minor offenses.

Yes. Muir himself stated a few times that he is mostly just "following orders" and when they locked all these threads and banned a few people George said that this was his idea. Mostly justified because one single user whined on twitter because of the negative atmosphere.
Someone should tell Muir that the way into game development is through learning algebra and how to code or getting used with tools like blender...
Also I want to hint at my signature, SamVT (former Developer and moderator who left 22cans) implied that the was used as a scapegoat by 22cans.

You know, that would be against the Steam Board rules and nets you a ban. (Arguing with a mod is against the rules).

Just to be clear, that was not a serious question. I figured as much. But then I thought other people might read it and start to wonder. So I gave it a clear and concise answer.

Err but we do follow steam forum rules, we follow the fallout of the misinterpretation of those rules when applied to steam forums...

Could we have "Steam forum rules" day? I could put up streamers and bring party hats?

If that is what you want. Ask people to vote on it.
