Here's the thread, for anyone who's curious: steamcommunity.com/app/232810/discussions/3/540744935976596407/Tigris, I'm no fan of Muir but you must've known where that would end up. He's incredibly thin-skinned at the best of times. He got you for "flamebaiting", "arguing with a mod" and (tenuously) making threats or something. Any one of those things could get you a ban from Muir, especially if you embarrass him.

I was fully aware where it headed and surprised it took so long. Sadly the poke Muir and point out his hypocrisy secret Godus DLC was the best part of the game. Ah, well, I'll always have "Paris".

Though he denies it, Muir is the person that gave me my first Steam ban for tweaking PM's description of Invest To Play to sound like he was describing using a "free candy" van. I'm expecting a lot more bans to be coming down the pipe as we get closer to the 1 year Early Access release date. 22Cans has nearly used up every ounce of goodwill it's been able to scrape together and "It's still Beta" is wearing thin at this point.

I, too, got banned by Muir for taking part in that same conversation - likening the whole situation of the 22Cans KS and SteamEA to a "creepy van soliciting children with candy". Admittedly, my post was a little tactless and uncalled for, but I got banned without so much as a warning. It was a bit of a shock - and a reminder to censor myself a bit more, or at least not give in too strongly to emotional response - as I've never been banned from a forum in all my 20-ish years using the interwebz [that I can recall].

I've never been banned by Muir. Now I feel left out. Well, that can be easily remedied. Either make an effort to get banned on Steam, or just have Qetesh ban you from here for a day. XD

I've never been warned or banned by Muir, but I've had plenty of posts edited by him before the Steam board moderating was reassessed. I don't think Muir has ever acknowledged or apologised for the way he used to treat people, and his approach to moderating still comes across like he's enjoying the "power" a little to much.

I don't like: Ignoring a unpleasant question or answering with something that is only loosely related or way to vague to actually answer something. Mods that Cherry-pick in discussions. Banning people for minor offenses.

I guess he didn't believed you that DIAF means Desist in Arguing Fallacy . To be fair, having a rule against death threats sounds sensible to me and I can understand that he doesn't wanted to argue with you what you meant when you wrote DIAF. He is not entirely wrong with that. Though yes there is quite a difference between a personal death treat and saying that a company can DIAF which in that context just means that you don't give a fuck about them. Muir is too strict with interpreting and enforcing the rules if you're contra godus and not strictly enough if you're pro godus.

Telling somebody to GDIAF is a prime example of baiting/trolling and part of our job on the Steam forums is to uphold the Steam forum rules. If you can't participate in a conversation without resorting to banal, childish threats and insults, then perhaps you shouldn't participate at all. Now I know that by his own admission Tigris is likely to say "but I'm an asshole, I like acting like an asshole and I reserve the right to act like an asshole". Well, I'm afraid I don't tolerate such behaviour on any of the forums I run, especially as it breaches the forum's rules with which I am tasked to uphold. So, either pitch in and be constructive or post elsewhere. Like here, for example.

This is a different type of forum but I would not take an issue from a stern warning for any type of inference of a threat on Stream either. I get how upset we all are, but you are really pushing boundaries when threats come into the picture. This time, I would have mostly agreed with Muir for a warning, I don't think throwing bans around is the way to go, he gave a warning and not a ban.
Here is my rule of thumb, if you start name calling, threats and insult hurling, you are weakening your own point of argument. I'm all for being colorful to make a point and sometimes it might sting in the process, but I don't think I have ever insulted, name-called or insult hurled on any forum, although I did have other posters do it to me on 22cans a few times.

Yes by all means use this board to tell people to DIAF and please provide a funny animation of it while you're at it.

But seems like that was intended - you know him, you know us, you know our feedback and suggestions of the past 1 1/2 year and you really know the 22cans reactions on every suggestion we made, so it looks really obvious that you wanted him to get pissed.
I haven't followed the godus development and community building for nearly 2 month now, but it seems like there is nothing really new.

Do you mean this post? That's me genuinely trying to be constructive and make that conversation progressive - I'm surprised you could take that any other way? It is never my intention to piss anybody off on purpose - I've a hard enough time making sure I don't do it accidentally, last thing I want is a fight on my hands! As it is, I've given TigrisMorte a 3 day ban for his response to Muir. Like it or not, Muir is a mod and TigrisMorte was taking intentionally baiting, trolling and arguing with him. It's only for three days, so it's not what I would consider a big deal but if it happens again, then it'll be 30.

Muir may be a mod but that does not mean they were a good choice by 22Cans. They are power crazed, overtly biased and take issue with some of the smallest things.

The post was constructive, was not trolling, and you simply dislike my pointing out that 22cans has been all talk and no product. I state that I am an asshole. I have never stated that I like it nor that I reserve the right to anything. I state it up front so folks don't get their undies all knotted on the assumption that there is any personal insults intended. You chose to ignore the actual post and read what you desired into it. Think skin nothing more, and sad abuse of power should be opposed and pointed out.
