Has anyone had any luck getting a refund?
I'd love to hear about the avenue you took to get it.
Also, I'd enjoy hearing about any bits of resistance you came across along the way so I can know what to expect.
Please feel free to be as vague and anonymous as you wish. Thanks

I think you're out of luck. I've yet to hear of ANYONE getting a refund on Godus.
Not even the Kickstarter backers (who have some pretty good grounds as it appears that certain 'rewards' will *never* make it into the game) have gotten anywhere there. The cans just keep their special "But we're still in development" excuse handy as an invulnerability shield.

I'm hoping that the relatively anonymous nature of this particular thread will bring some helpful souls forward. I can dream, can't I?

I doubt you will get a refund. Certainly not from Steam or Kickstarter since it's not their responsibility. Requests made to 22Cans directly will get the same copy-pasted response we saw a few times on the backer forum:
So, as per that mail, you could try opening a request, or you could try contacting Peter Murphy directly, but we've been led to believe he either ignores those messages or just forwards them to the community managers. (I'll pass on Peter's email address on request, but since this is an open board I don't wish to publish it...)
The 'still in development' excuse is a strong crutch, and when they eventually do declare a final release I suspect it will have been too long since the original payment date to expect any kind of reimbursement.

It is company policy not to issue refunds. I'm afraid there is no movement on this.

That said. I'm not heartless. I do feel for the folks at 22cans and hope they can get this mess cleared up soon. Attachments:

Interesting. Perhaps they feel vulnerable to appeals to apple. All the more reason to make those appeals if you are an affected party.

It's unfortunate that mobile users were not made aware of the nature of Steam Early Access and that losing progress is part of the... oh... right...

Is there a precedent for such issues on Farmville type games on iOS.

My money is on it just being gems as well. If they do one full refund then they will get his by a wave of people wanting full refunds and that would really sink them.

That was my first thought as well but reading it closely it actually means giving back the money, since it is a reimbursement for whatever money she spent on gems and not a reimbursement for whatever gems she lost.

If it IS money, then this is gonna cause people to demand refunds on PC aswell... I mean, we've lost progress more than once =P I haven't seen any confirmation either way though.

Money spent on gems which are then lost through a game reset is a lost asset and thus there is actual financial loss. The game resetting on PC still gives you the full PC game to play, just without your save, thus no actual financial loss. The two are thus very different situations and thus they'll treat them differently.

As opposed to the ones that will say "A refund is a refund" Granted, we've yet to hear whether "reimbursement" means money or gems...
