That is really weird. We haven't even got to the stage of bagging them. What is the relationship of Roumsen to Crytivo? I'm just a volunteering mod. For sure I'm talking with some guys every now and then, but actually not about these kind of things. Hey I'm a backer in the first place and my intention is to help my fellow backers as good as I can. Next thing is to take care of the forum and as the kind guy who I am, I also try to help even on a different forum. For Lord Ba'al: While I personally can't see any disadvantages of this place here or mentioning this forum on the official one, I can't speak for Crytivo or the person who told you so. Tbh I'm surprised as well. But I'm not sure if I could be of any help. (PM?)Maybe you could just explain to them that we are GODUS refugees and while we are suspicious and as a result of that suspicion we want to maintain our own forum under our control, if the backers in our community, of which I understand there are a few, recommend the game to us they will get many sales as the news reverberates through our community. Sorry for the long sentence. I mean it doesn't really matter, we'll keep doing our own thing regardless but it seems a shame to get off on the wrong foot when we are all hoping for the best and like what we see so far.

I shall do as they request when I get home from work but I don't know what kind of conclusions i will be drawing later.

Between this and Fallout 4, I wish I could take a month off work... Well the guys have said the pre-alpha would only offer about 20 minutes of play time. Of course you could play it over and over again...

It seems the delay of the pre-alpha release is already causing people to ask for refunds on the universim forums.

That is just crazy. A week delay and they can not wait?

That is just crazy. A week delay and they can not wait? The original release was meant to be last year it would seem. At this point it's delayed by something like 10 months or more by the comments on their forums. If the delay is for a legitimate reason that's fair enough, but there's so much contradiction and BS floating around from Crytivo about this latest delay that it's bordering on Molyneux levels. The delay announcement mentions the problem has been worked on for several days now and is to do with the patcher they want to use to update the builds to new versions. When someone on the forum asked why if it had been a known problem for several days there was no word until the last minute, a member of Crytivo then posted on their forums saying the problem hit them unexpectedly. Someone else then asked if it was possible to release a build of the existing state of the game without the patcher if the problem was solely the patcher. To which the same official replied with: Which makes absolutely no sense. There is no reason why that "might give us more problems down the road because we will have build everything around the version that you'll have on your machine". It's an entirely isolated build, when the patcher is ready they then push out a entirely different release. Other officials in other threads have reinforced the fact that the build itself works perfectly fine, the problem is entirely down to the separate patcher that allows them to release further build updates. The several requests or questions on why they don't just release the existing build without the patcher to get feedback flowing in, and then carry on working on the patcher for the next few weeks or however long it takes and then release a replacement build that is capable of working with a patcher has been met with absolute silence and no comments from the team. You can follow the exchange in this thread: theuniversim.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1581-delayed-again/

Ah ok Thanks. I glanced over at the forums after I posted and saw a little of what you said but not all the details. Thanks.

Oh well I'm only waiting to read other people's thoughts. The 'Demo' on steam is pretty much just the old prototype but with a more updated world. Everything is still disabled on it. Does make me wonder if the Steam Demo is really all there is functioning at the moment given that it released at the exact time as the pre-alpha was due to release and the pre-alpha just happened to "Have problems suddenly appear that will take a couple of weeks". What's clear at this point is that Crytivo seem to be a brick wall on the whole subject now. No more replies to questions or requests for clarification on what's stopping them releasing a non-patcher build, yet anything to do with the Steam demo they'll suddenly appear and answer questions and engage over before disappearing again, not even posting to people asking if refunds are at all possible. So head in the sand tactics? Dunno, how they've handled the whole thing just seems rather cheap. "Hey it's delayed yet again. A few weeks this time, not more months we promise. Non-patcher build? Yeah we could do that, but it'll cause problems later because we'll never ever be able to offer launcher builds in the future as a result because of reasons we can't tell you but are totally legit! Anyway we're going to ignore you all now. P.S. Steam Demo of a inflated version of the old prototype so we don't have to even acknowledge anything else!"

Only time will tell if there is a real problem. Its not unusual for release dates to be pushed at the last minute but it is a bad move to leave it so late to announce the slippage.

I had a quick go with the demo. The engine is quite cool. The planet looks awesome from a distance. The moment when you see the sunrise is quite nice and I really liked how you can go inside clouds and rain forms on the lens.

This video from the tweet section is interesting.
Weird that the buildings beyond the first weren't finished. What do other people think?

The player didn't assign even one builder, what would you expect? Though it certainly sounds more like a sales pitch rather than a gameplay video.
