Alex Koshelkov just mentioned godus in a post on the Universim forum a few hours ago.
I think this is a fair complaint about being likened to GODUS. However, unfortunately for the industry, GODUS has poisoned many wells.
On the upside I know many people back Universim because it looked likely to deliver what was hoped from GODUS but never arrived.
I hope they get their pre-alpha out soon so we can judge them on some gameplay.

Apparently the pre-alpha has been released. Haven't seen a tweet or news post about it though.

I have not been able to get my key yet. I am at TFCon so have not put in a ticket yet or tried very hard to figure out if it is a website issue or not.

Still looking forward to reading people's experiences when they are able to post about it.

Still looking forward to reading people's experiences when they are able to post about it. Aren't the pre-alpha forums open to the public? I thought everyone could read them. :\

Anyway I want to read stories about people's play experience here

So what are the overall impressions of the game so far, looking good/ok, do we need a Universim goodwill meter? I'm still on the fence whether to get involved in the "early access" as it were.

I am rather on the fence myself at the moment. From what I've been reading on the universim forums I'm starting to get the feeling that they're in over their head.

I haven't been following the Universim development very closely, but I'm looking forward to the end product and I hope they don't get too ground down by the fallout of the hype machine and the GODUS stigma. It sounds like to an extent they have fallen into the same trap: There are huge expectations, not necessarily because of anything they've specifically said but because Universim has been viewed as the anti-Godus and everyone wants it to succeed in the areas where Godus failed. But it's a completely different project with a different team (as he mentions) so it's not really fair they're having these comparisons made all the time.
They could get seriously dragged down by any negative feedback they get over the pre-alpha release, when really, it's probably not a very fair representation of the end product and the feedback they get at this stage could take them anywhere. I think developers should be very cautious about giving customers access to pre-release builds for this reason.

From what I've been reading on the universim forums I'm starting to get the feeling that they're in over their head. In what way? They keep missing deadlines they set for themselves. And not by a little margin either. Plan that makes no sense to open an office in San Diego. Communication slowed down to a crawl. It's just starting to feel like that.

I'm so eager to play this. It really is starting to worry me, despite the progress.

I was gonna post all the Universim news since November last year but after doing one item I've decided to give up on it. It's too much work. The way the items are structured pisses me off. Layout is all over the place. Spelling errors in titles. It's just too much. F**k it.

lol. I don't blame you. It was great having them cross posted here, but I totally understand the frustration. If we want to see the progress updates, we can go to thier forum or website. That reminds me, I can't recall the last time I saw RobertMuldoon posting here.

That reminds me, I can't recall the last time I saw RobertMuldoon posting here. I started a new job in January which has required me to work every hour under the sun (and most of those under the moon too). I'm around, just less frequently and often without logging in too.

Hey, nice to see you. Ah, I totally understand - I haven't been around much either because of a new project contract at work keeping me busy. Congrats on the job and best of luck! I hope things calm down a bit and we see more of you on the forum.
